Aren't we progressing fast!
Austria, 1 schilling, 1925
I am trying for the whole date-set of these schillings - the aluminum-bronze kind was the first foreign coin I remember seeing in my childhood. I was born at about the same time of the Euro (but you can't tell, because I'm so articulate, right? ), so the idea of a currency before the Euro - wow! That must be ancient. Nowadays I think somewhat differently, but I still like the utilitarian schilling design and the schilling, First Republic or Second Republic, has always looked nice.
Nowadays Iran uses a solar year on coins (unlike most other Islamic calendar-using countries, which use the typical lunar system) that is still started by the Hejira: but under the fairly inept Qajar dynasty, the full lunar calendar was used, and AH1326 corresponds to 1908. This coin has no numerical denomination, making it a real pain to identify (unless you can read Farsi).
Wow, are we doing it here as well? I've been with the CCF from start and on CP from somewhere in the middle 1800's.
But what's the rules?
The same member can't post two years in a row?
One minute/hour/day per year? Or is it 12 hours per year?
The posted coin must have visible date (and correct date)?
Are all dates allowed, or is it just Gregorian dates?
Seems like we are just posting with no time frame. You got the next one? Post it! Also it looks like we're going by Gregorian calender, but the date on the coin can simply be converted.
"What we are is not as important as what we aren't"
"1,000th anniversary of the arrival of the Magyars in Europe", coinciding with the out-of-control ethnic nationalism that was so prevalent at the time. Still, how many coins get to commemorate an entire millennium?
Also, here is a summary of images that were going to be added, but so far have not ...
@ dptashny : waiting for year : 1952 Austrian Groschen
@ dptashny : waiting for year : 1950 Belgium 100 Francs silver
(and when images for those years are added, please click on Edit to keep them in correct sequence - rather than add them all the way down here). Just a suggestion !

Can you guys slow down, I'd like to post but every time I check there's been another 10-20 years ticked off. How about taking time and giving somebody else a go at posting their coins.
I saw that the person that originally suggested the idea recommended that we do one year per day and everyone posts coins from that year, and there was suggestions that nobody should post coins from consecutive years.
It's hard for me to get into it because I don't have a scanner at home and I need to head round to my parent's place to scan my coins. It's getting to the stage where I'd need to take almost all my collection to be guaranteed that I could cover the year we're up to.
I'm mostly with you on that, Neil! Before you have got any images available it has moved on at least a decade. Great if you have got absolutely bags of time or all your images on file already.
I don't use a scanner as all mine are photographed and stored on my computer, that saves me time in trying to find the right coin I just look in my pics. plus I will now wait for about 100yrs and start again ok
Perhaps we could make the rule one pic per day per person to give everyone a chance at posting, especially those in the time zones where it's now night.
What do you all think? Dan? You set it up, what do you think of that idea?
We could start a separate thread (as is done on CCF) with a much more leisurely pace, while the original thread here continues with its breakneck speed. That way we have both solutions, yes?
Well...I think it is a good idea as a thread. I just think it is a shame at the speed. You don't get to look and take into account the beauty of the coins.
Quote: dptashnyThe idea is to post pictures of your coins (or medals) starting with 2013, then 2012, then 2011, and so on.
Rules:
No skipping dates
You must own this coin (exception for 2014)
It must be dated.
Both CCF and CoinPeople have threads like this one, let's see your coins!
2014:
Don't like to be picky but there is nothing here stating --speed - leisurely pace-or how many and how fast --
I thought it was just open to anything so long as the dates where correct and you owned the coins
cheers Don
Yeah, I'm not having a go at you Fourmack, the thread was just posted a bit hastily before all the rules had been nutted out and people were so keen on it that it's taken off and has become pretty hard to reign in. Here is the thread where the idea was suggested https://en.numista.com/forum/topic26022.html You'll see it was suggested to have just one year per day but by then the thread was already set up.

Well, I would like to work out the rules first.
I think it's good to have "one year per day", so that many people can post coins from the same year... this lets more people participate. A fast one-year-after-the-next thread is a especially headache for people in different time zones.
Don't think this thread is being replaced... we can all post our coins twice.
The slow thread should give us all a chance to participate without having to outmaneuver other members in a mad dash to get certain dates that you have photographed
Here is your chance to add 1872 ...
or wait 141 days to add it to the other topic.
Also I can not add 1872 myself as the next picture I have ready is 1866. Here is part of the folder I have some pictures ready, at the moment; these are 1612 to 1844 with others not shown up to 1866.
Just in time for another elusive Canadian Provinces issue...
Prince Edward Island, 1 cent, 1871
These circulated alongside Dominion large cents until 1920 when the denomination was abolished. Another fun P.E.I. fact... apart from Scotland itself, it's the most Scottish place on earth.
