That means the Bishopric of Courland is the only place under Livonia I am missing, although, with my budget, I doubt I will ever get a coin from that place. Oh well! I can settle for 7/8 of the issuers.
Darn... I wrote a lengthy post about what exactly happened, and it just randomly disappeared for some reason.
I'm keeping the empty post in case it ever decides to show up, but TL/DR:
273. Muscat and Oman [back when it separated]
274. Hannover, Kingdom of [actually dishonest - I don't know the type of my coin, only the date and denomination; ended up making a guess]
275. Dombes, Principality of [listed in my handwritten catalogues under "Orleans"]
276. Livonia, Duchy of [listed in my handwritten catalogues under "Riga, Polish" or similar]
277. England [because apparently I forgot to enter the England coin I thought I entered, so this one was a new issuer]
Oh, and all of this (except Muscat and Oman) was part of nearly 300 coins that I randomly found in a shoebox and recognized as my old coin purchases that I apparently put away a few months before I joined Numista.
Took me 16 days to enter all of them properly (would have been much less but I kept getting distracted and/or just plain forgetting).
By the way, perhaps a third "Newest country added to your collection" thread should be started up? This thread has almost as many posts now as the last one apparently did before it ended.
My latest issuer was Turks and Caicos. Not even sure why i bought the coin, as i don't like non-circulating coins. Might just throw it on swap list :))
I only had coins from Southern Rhodesia, and Rhodesia and Nyasaland before, since Rhodesia existed in a time period completely outside my main collecting timeframe, but I saw one of their coins in a junk bin for 0,50€ today and decided why not.
Quote: "CassTaylor"It's interesting to see how much the difference in your amount of countries and issuers is, usually those who collect old, smaller countries (German, Italian states, IPS, etc.) will have a larger difference between the two.
I'm noticing we almost have the same stats regarding the number of issuers and countries !
At first, I started to collect modern circulated coins from all over the world but I'm focusing on ancient and medieval ones now
#256 : Umayyad Caliphate (Islamic states)
#257 : Kingdom of Castile and Leon (Spanish states)
#258 : Almohad Caliphate (Islamic states)
#259 : Golden Horde (Mongol states)

That sounds like me alright!
I'm actually having trouble getting new issuers, and I don't want to just buy a bunch of circulating cheap coins from the remaining current countries in the world today, but at the same time I'm not interested in Ancient/Medieval issuers, so that leaves a very slim selection of countries available to add to my issuer list (e.g. I'd love to have Isles de France et Bonaparte or Gold Coast). Probable candidates are more German/Italian states.
Until recently this would have filled one of the few blank spots in the Numista map, but recent updates colored in Mongolia as China (Empire). But now I have it properly. :-)
And yesterday, I received 21 unidentified coins. Out of the nine I have identified so far, eight were new places (I already had Gwaior). So...
295. Sultanate of Bijapur (Indian State).
296. Abbasid Caliphate (Islamic State).
297. Byzantine Empire (And my 208th country).
298. Vijayanagara Empire (Indian State).
299. Sultanate of Bahmani (Indian State).
With Maratha not yet being split from the Indian States section, and with nothing being spit from Ancient India (Kushan and the Mauryan Empire, in my case), that is what I have so far.
328. Exonumia (had a tourist token moved there? not sure when exactly that happened)
329. Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, Duchy of
330. Brandenburg-Prussia
331. Aachen, Free imperial city of (not actually honest - I know the type but not the date)
@Cyncos
Didn't realise you passed me in issuer count, but not for much longer!
I found a bunch of cheap coins from some new issuers I didn't have at the flea market earlier today:
Issuer 264: Malawi (20 Tambala 1971)
Issuer 265: Sudan (10 Milliemes AH 1390/1970)
Issuer 266: Pakistan (5 Paisa 1963)
Issuer 267: Kuwait (50 Fils AH 1392/1972)
Issuer 268: South Arabia (25 Fils 1964)
Issuer 269: Equatorial African states (BEAC) (10 Francs 1972)
Issuer 270: German Notgeld (50 pfennig ND (1918-19?))
Equatorial African states is somewhere I am referee for but had no coins from, so I felt bad enough to get one; while I don't usually collect German Notgeld, I decided to buy a cheap one that was in AU, with a fair bit of lustre, anyway:
I have been avoiding adding new issuers, to deepen my collections of the ones I am focused on.
but today I added Malta.
A nice introduction from the five-for-a-dollar junk box
Jamais l'or n'a perdu la plus petite occasion de se montrer stupide. -Balzac
Issuer 271: Duchy of Nassau
Issuer 272: French Notgeld
For the second one, like German Notgeld a few days ago I don't actively collect them, but I wanted a cheap example of each anyway. And it's another country I am referee for that I felt bad I didn't have any coins from as well...
Country 235 - Issuer 353 - India (ancient) (Indo-Scythian)
Country 235 - Issuer 354 -German states › Electorate of Bavaria
Country 235 - Issuer 355 - Indian states and kingdoms › Pratihara Empire
Country 235 - Issuer 356 - Islamic states › Ghurid dynasty
Country 235 - Issuer 357 - Indian states and kingdoms › Sultanate of Delhi
Plus a number of ancient indians that don't show up as new issuers

Not a new issuer (at least by Numista country list standards) but today I got the only official coin issue minted for Prince Edward Island, the 1871 1 cent.
That does raise the question of whether the Canadian provinces should be subissuers under Canada in their own right like Newfoundland, or at least third level issuers like the German states?

They definitely should; probably third level (like the Argentine and Venezuelan provinces) rather than second level, however. (Not sure what to do with Newfoundland then, though.)
IMHO the only reason they aren't is that the still-ongoing reorganization hadn't gotten around to them (yet).
(Well, that, and I'm not sure how to count Upper Canada and Lower Canada, and for that matter the blacksmith tokens - and never mind this type...)
Two new IPS issuers for me today:
Issuer No. 277: Jaipur
Issuer No. 278: Gwalior
Agreed that Canadian provinces would look good as third level issuers rather than currencies within a second level issuer. I think Newfoundland could remain separate because it was a dominion of its own from 1907, joining the Canadian Confederation only in 1949.
Meanwhile I got inspired while researching the coinage of the German states of Cologne, and I managed to acquire an 8 Heller coin of the City of Cologne from 1793. The NRI was 93 before I had it, so it's not that common. I read that the coins were minted to deal with coin shortages as a result of the Napoleonic Wars that were raging not far from the city. Not much later Cologne was annexed by France.
Issuer 279/Country 172: Kenya
Issuer 280/Country 173: Armenia
Issuer 281/Country 174: Madagascar
Issuer 282/Country 175: Central African states
Issuer 283: Democratic Republic of the Congo
Issuer 284: Israel
Nowhere near the country numbers some of you all have. Mine
83. Morocco - added 1 franc coin sof 1952, 10 and 50 francs of that year and a 1 dirham dated 1984
84. Germany - Prussia, 5 Mark coin dated 1903 with Kaiser Wilhelm II on it.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

I'm not sure about adding photos in this topic as pages need more times to load when they have pictures inside.
Personally, I can't open some topics without crashing my browser (I'm still using an old computer ).
Moreover we already have the "Additions to your collection [...]" topic to add pictures of our new coins.
However, I can link those issuers to the coins in the catalog if you prefer.

Maybe we should start a new thread for the Newest issuer(s) added to our collections?
