Okay, maybe this site does not name those last two countries like that, but that is how I am chosing to name them.
And I almost got a cheap coin from the Hungarian states (Transylvania), but the seller sent me the wrong coin. After I contacted them, they said they could not find the coin I ordered, then refunded my money. Oh well...
As expected, my Tver pulo was eventually moved there, so now I actually have that country.
Incidentally, with 12 countries to go until 300 and 8 countries left in the "common" list, I'm almost guaranteed to reach 300 before completing said list.
(German Notgeld, Congo - Republic, some of the missing kinds of Livonia, and obviously England are the most likely avenues of expansion; Timor-Leste as well if I can find any of their coins. Austrian Netherlands, China - ancient and Korea shouldn't be too expensive as well but just don't seem to show up.)
And yeah... I'd really want to get a Transylvanian coin, but I hadn't seen one anywhere so far.

It turns out that the one coin from Transylvania that I had (1627-NB Groschen, KM#169) was listed under Hungarian States as "1 Garas", so I didn't find it until yesterday. It becomes #226.
I honestly forgot Tokelau was a thing. Was pretty cheap though.
OTOH, I paid $3.5 for the Timor-Leste coin, $7 for the Congo - Republic coin and $12 for the New Guinea coin (a silver shilling).
Total spent that day: almost $50 (half of it was not on new countries).
Only one of those, New Guinea, was on the "common" list; the other three were not.
That leaves me with 8 countries to go until 300, and 7 spots left on the list (Gabon, German East Africa, Greenland, India - Portuguese, New Hebrides, Sarawak, Turks and Caicos Islands); it is still theoretically possible to complete the list before (or in the moment of) reaching 300, but it is vanishingly unlikely.
(OTOH, it is perfectly possible that I will reach 300 without a single one of those 7. German Notgeld, England, Austrian Netherlands, China - ancient, Korea, India - ancient, Phoenician cities, one or two of the missing Livonias...)
Quote: "JWDiaz"I recently added New Guinea, thinking that it would be my 276 country, but my total remained at 275. Has something similar happened to anyone else?
Several days ago, I added Byzantium Empire and noticed that the count didn't move. Maybe two countries were combined?

Two days ago, I got three new countries: Bangladesh (209), Islamic States (210), and Rhodesia (211). Today, I received a bunch of common countries I did not have before:
212. Afghanistan.
213. Azerbaijan.
214. British Virgin Islands.
215. Burundi.
216. China - Japanese Puppet States (Manchoukuo).
217. Djibouti.
218. French Oceania.
219. Kazakhstan.
220. Macedonia.
221. Madagascar.
222. Maldives.
223. Myanmar.
224. Portuguese Timor.
225. Réunion.
226. Serbia.
227. Soloman Islands
228. Tajikistan.
229. Vietnam.
230. Zaire.
I see many of you are just members of 300 country club in waiting. I guess you noticed (some of you reported having them) new countries that were added two weeks ago.
231. Bosnia and Herzegovina.
232. French Equatorial Africa.
233. Indian States and Kingdoms.
234. Mali.
235. Mauritania.
236. Mauritius.
237. Nigeria.
238. Riga - Archbishopric.
300. Qatar
301. Central Africa (BEAC)
302. Equatorial African States
303. Congo Republic
304. Mali
305. Kenya
306. Libya
307. Zaire
308. West Africa (BCEAO)
309. Congo - Democratic Republic
310. Rwanda-Burundi
311. Eritrea
Seven more easy countries should in the mail. Then it gets harder.
It was supposed to happen eventually. A nice example caught my eye, and the price was not so bad as to make me turn it down immediately.
Really, I'm more surprised that it didn't happen earlier.
19 more countries from three swaps which arrived yesterday:
Afghanistan
Azerbaijan
Bangladesh
Belgian Congo
Bolivia
Cabo Verde
Djibouti
DR Congo
Falkland Islands
Gambia
Ghana
Gibraltar
Guyana
Macau
Malawi
Mauritania
Oman
Syria
Zimbabwe
Trying to get a coin from each UN country with circulating coins. 20 to go!
And apparently my coin from Malacca was supposed to be under the British East Indies rather than the Malay Peninsula. Luckily, I still have a few coins from Palembang, so the Malay Peninsula stays on my list, and the British East Indies becomes my 246th country.
Down to 214 countries but 285 sections. Looks that I at least gained the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy. When German States are reorganised my count will go up a lot.
294. Tokens [I think - can't find anything else it could be]
295. Genoa, Republic of
296. Italy, Napoleonic Kingdom of
I still have 2 more Italian states left (and 12 German states, 2 Indian states and 2 ancient Greek states - would've had more on the latter category, and on Roman provinces for that matter, but Numista's completeness sucks), so this number will probably climb further (and, in particular, cross 300 today or tomorrow).
Quote: "January First-of-May"294. Tokens [I think - can't find anything else it could be]
Yeah, it seems 'Tokens' now counts as a section. I have no tokens catalogued in my collection, and just adding a random one, my sections increases by one.

Tokens and Exonumia temporarily count as sections.
Okay, so I thought it would be a German state. It wasn't (I knew the Italian states hadn't been sorted out yet, but I didn't expect it to happen so quickly).
I still have one coin in the remainder of Italian states, but when it would be moved away, it shouldn't change my section count (which by then is unlikely to still be 300 anyway).
In a more notable numeric achievement, I also reached 2500 different coins today (my overall total is 2732, with 1882 different types).
Only three times as much to go until 10,000 coin club
I only had one coin from the Italian States (Lombardy-Venetia), so with the split, I did not go up in sections. With the German States, I have so far gone up three sections:
So, I was at 249 countries before the change. Now, I have gained the following new "sections":
Aachen, Free imperial city of
Baden, Grand-duchy of
Bavaria, Duchy of
Bavaria, Kingdom of
Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover
Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Duchy of
Lombardy-Venetia, Kingdom of
Sardinia, Kingdom of
Venice, Republic of
And I've added a coin from Brunei. So now I am at 200 countries, 260 sections.
Due to catalog churn, it looks like I added section 356 again (meaning that I lost a section, somewhere). However, I skipped past country 239, meaning that I gained a country somewhere (perhaps "Low Countries, Feudal"?).
And the churn continues, without even adding any coins I'm at 201 countries, 264 issuers now.
New issuers:
Bremen, Free imperial city of
Eastern Friesland, Earldom of
Frankfort, Free imperial city of
Hannover, Kingdom of
Hessen, Grand duchy of
Lahej, Sultanate of
Not sure where the new country came from, nor which issuer got combined with something else.
254. South Africa - Pre-Union
255. Kyrgyzstan
256. Zaire
257. South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands -- actually, had this one for a while, but forgot to enter on Numista
