All of those are from entering past purchases (the British West Africa coin is from last summer).
I'm looking forward for 2-3 more "new" countries from entering my old album from 2009-10 (no, I'm not sure how I managed to still not enter them).
So for now my listing is at 274 but when all German Notgelds will be moved, I'll be at 275.

Two new "countries" added in a swap: Central Africa and French Cities (a notgeld token from La Rochelle). And then, one of my German notgeld coins was moved to the new German Notgeld "country" (with presumably the rest to follow). So, I now stand at 209 countries.

I'll probably move to 278 soon as purchasing 3 new countries: British Honduras, Guadeloupe and Hispania.

Guadeloupe confirmed. 276 for now, still waiting for the 2 following ones.

209. Cook Islands
210. Palestine (used to have one of those, hadn't seen it for ages)
Seriously, that guy was so good talking he swindled me out of $33 (and no, the half a dozen coins I bought were not worth it, though it would've been a lot closer if I didn't buy the 1853 penny).
Would've gotten Liberia too if it wasn't for [s]those meddling kids[/s] the seller being ludicrously sloppy with packing (so much that I'm half wondering if it wasn't on purpose). Back to looking for it everywhere...

195 countries now, 5 to go to reach my 200 target for 2016!
Netherlands East Indies today courtesy of a large swap with Lotus07
196 countries, 4 to go to reach my 200 target for 2016.
Glad you received them! :)

I am sitting at 270 at the moment (Maybe 271) I Really need to get all my coins in one place... (Yes I have two houses...)
Last Two countries I bought (Not in my hands yet) are:
269 German East Africa
270 New Hebrides
If any one has some of the countries I am missing I might be up for a swap, but remember I am a slower swapper.
My collection is open for you guys to check around, and offer any nice coin that could help me get more countries... I will like to get first the ones missing from North/Central and South America (Including the Caribbean) then moving to Africa...
Yes, that's the so-called "2009 album" (it's really from 2010, which is what I listed it as in my comments, though some additions might have been made as late as 2011).
I'm not actually sure how did I manage to miss those two - it's not like I avoided buying coins from Uzbekistan or GDR. It just... hadn't come up so far.
This also included at least a dozen of US state quarters (up to 64 US coins now), and enough Russian and Soviet coins to make Kaliningrad my top dashboard region (103 coins - France, in second place, has 101).
Oh, and the 20 kopek 1932, which is perhaps the first coin in my collection that I consciously collected as something unusual (despite, or perhaps because of, its rather sorry corroded state).
Yes, Liberia, finally. (Such a long time without Liberian coins, then I get two in one day. Same dealer, admittedly.)
This means the blank parts of the African continent on my map are down to Western Sahara (easy, but pretty much NCLT), Eritrea (I actually have that one, just not entered yet) and Djibouti (okay, that might be complicated).
(For Asia, I'm only missing Qatar, I think, unless I forgot about some other tiny country; for Europe I'm missing a few microstates, including the ultra-hard Liechtenstein. I've been done with North and South America for a while now. Oh, and that's all referring to the continents specifically, obviously - islands are harder.)
It is my hope (well, one of my hopes) to get to 250 countries (300 is way too hard) before the reorganizations make the old numbers meaningless.
It seems rather unlikely by now that I'd even get to 250 in time - but 220 (or even 225) is a distinct possibility.

All four were recent purchases (from today); Djibouti and Cayman Islands were deliberate new countries, Yemen Arab Republic was a lucky accident (I had no idea which country it was), and I was pretty sure I had Singapore already (I'm mostly ignoring their coins because they're too common - turned out I ignored them so much I didn't have a single one on Numista before).
That's 220 countries now, I suppose? I could probably take it to 225 without even buying anything, and 250 no longer seems such an implausibility.
Also, my empty continental Africa is now down to Western Sahara and Eritrea (and I definitely have a coin from Eritrea). As previously mentioned, Asia is down to Qatar (I thought I had a Qatar coin but I'm not very sure), and Europe seems to be down to Monaco (have), Vatican (have) and Liechtenstein (very rare).

Again, just organizing some old purchases. Nothing recently bought here.
I added Saarland too, along with Sarawak. Bought them along with a few others at last weekend's Toronto coin expo. Does an Aachen Notgeld coin count as a country too?
Usually this is not a different country but we had to split German Notgelds in a separate country listing for a better readability, as well as other German separate listings.

Yes, I saw the postings on that. Very much appreciated all the work you guys do to keep the catalogue updated and user friendly
The former was the result yet of another organization (and now, I believe, all of the main post-Soviet states are properly represented in my Numista collection, except for Belarus, whose coins I have not acquired yet); the latter was a deliberate purchase (okay, to be honest, I was looking for Gabon, Chad, or New Hebrides - Fiji was a consolation prize).
I am excited about winning an auction for a 1943 10 Kopejek from Tanna Tuva. They don't seem to show up on ebay very often. I also have coins coming from German Notgeld, Belarus, Ras Al Khaima, British Antarctic Territory, and Niger. When they all arrive I will have 367 countries.
Quote: "eug"I am excited about winning an auction for a 1943 10 Kopejek from Tanna Tuva. They don't seem to show up on ebay very often.
wow, congrats! i don't think i've ever seen auctions with the tannu tuva coins, only "buy now" for like $3k..i'm excited to see pics of your newly conquered country!
Wow! Tannu Tuva coins are way over my budget. (I think they don't cost six-figure amounts over here - and $3k would be a six-figure amount - but they're way over my budget anyway.)
Meanwhile, while going over my country list to figure out what I'm still missing for the "common" 246 list from the 300 club, I realized that, actually, I still hadn't entered anything from Georgia. (I do have coins from there, yes.) So I only have, at most, 13 of the 15 post-Soviet republics entered so far.
(I really should type out the list of countries I don't have, and go coin shopping with that page. At 222 countries, plus a few still non-entered, it's hard to recall what I have and what I don't; I think I might have passed on a Bermuda coin recently, because I thought I had that country already.)
Got Maldives (214) and Vietnam (215) in a swap. Funny, I've had a few older South Vietnam coins for ages, but this was the first modern one I've had the opportunity to acquire.
I went to a coin show yesterday, and managed to pick up nineteen new countries:
168) Algeria
169) Cameroon
170) Chile
171) Curaçao
172) Dutch Republic
173) East Africa
174) French Indochina
175) French Polynesia
176) French West Africa
177) Iraq
178) Libya
179) Malaya
180) Malaya and British Borneo
181) Morocco
182) Oman
183) Ottoman Empire
184) Rwanda
185) Sudan
186) Western Africa (BCEAO)
Finally found my Eritrea coin (wasn't even that well hidden - how the triangular heck didn't I stumble on it earlier?), so I have 223 countries now.
Spoiler alert: when I finish entering a few of my other acquisitions, this number will be even larger.
Only Western Sahara to go until the (continental) African map is full (I'll try to find one of their coins at first opportunity) - which does not mean I'm done with African countries; you will probably soon see why.
(I'm still looking for Chad, Gabon, Togo, and other currency union members; but that's not all there is to it either.)
224. Equatorial Guinea
225. Somalia
226. Moldavia and Wallachia
227. Saint Pierre and Miquelon
Did I mention that I'm not done with African countries? This is why. I recently got an album of various African coins from a good friend of the family; Equatorial Guinea and Somalia were my only "new" countries there, unfortunately, but many other coins in the album were types I've long been looking for.
Ironically, I found another Equatorial Guinea coin only a few days later in an old purchase from 2015 (that I thought I have entered already), and already had a Somalia coin on the way (sorry, neilithic, it wasn't my fault).
Moldavia and Wallachia was me deciding that I might as well enter the darn coin anyway, to get this rare country on my list, even though the date is probably gone (it's a badly corroded example that was probably also very worn).
Saint Pierre and Miquelon was me being reminded of that coin recently - seriously it was silly how this coin was lying in its special box [formerly a glasses case] right next to my computer for at least the last few months, and I knew it was there, yet I somehow hadn't entered it into my Numista collection so far. Really beautiful coin; I even put it as UNC, which I normally don't do lightly.
I'm hoping for 250 countries before the reorganization makes the old numbers obsolete, but it's looking more complicated than I thought - at least I've hit 225, fortunately.
Well, it has been a while since I've made any progress on this front, but a great little international swap brought me coins from Belarus, Turkmenistan, and a complete set of the very unusual and interesting plastic coins from Transnistria! That brings me to 218 countries.

The only Nagorno-Karabakh coins I had before were given out to other collectors well before I joined Numista.
I did have a bunch of Siberian coins already, but the particular coin I entered was a recent purchase (my first Siberian 2 kopek with a readable date).
Looking forward to New Hebrides and Qatar if the deal with neilithic goes through (I haven't received the package yet).
i doubt I'll make it to 250 countries before the new-style country count makes it all moot, however.
If we count old colonies as separate countries to be counted (i suppose it is indeed), in this case just added in November and December
Country #265 Canada (Nova Scotia)1 cent 1861 KM#8.2
Country #266 Canada (Prince Edward Island)1 cent 1871 KM#4
Country #267 German East Africa1 pesa 1890 KM#1
Though Canadian coins are counted by myself as Canada (and inside commented as territories), just like Chinese older Provinces, Japan Puppet State of Manchoukou etc.
Ahahah it is all much worse for me.
Numista counts my coins and countries as # 272.
Cannot imagine which sub-territories or countries are counted in other way then my own excel sheet :)
258. Austrian Netherlands
259. British Antarctic Territory
260. British Indian Ocean Territory
261. Republic of Congo
262. Crete

270. Southern Rhodesia
271. Sarawak
272. South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands
273. Portuguese India
Some of you guys have varied collections, I only have 88 countries, last added was a half cent of Sierra Leone.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Tangaroa is the male God of the sea and all its life (Fishes, crabs, coral etc). Tangaroa is known to most Polynesian cultures including Cook Islands Maori, NZ Maori, Samoan, Tongan, Niuean, French Polynesia, Hawaiian etc under slightly different names.

Moneytane...i have always shared your viewpoint that Tangaroa was only male. But on the website worldofcoins.eu i did a search of James Berry, designer of this dong dollar, and of Tangaroa and all are certain that he is depicted as a hermaphrodite on the Cook Islands coin. I suppose i should dig deeper and see their sources that the depiction is male/female.

It was actually a 5 cent FAOcoin, but yes, that's the fella...
I figured he was just a bit pot-bellied rather than pregnant!
I found a 1697 farthing of William III in a bulk bin (paid 13 cents!), which counts as England rather than the United Kingdom, so I now have 225 countries.
(It is very corroded and worn, in Fair or Poor condition, but identifiable!)
Bought a nice little batch of French colonial coins off eBay (and added a handful to my swap list if anyone needs them) and New Caledonia is country #226 for me.
Have added coins from Ecuador, Venezuela, Chile and Peru to my collection of Hispanic coins. A great mix including several complete sets of 1960s Peruvian brass coins from 5 centimos to 1 sol and a large selection of Spanish coins from a 10 centavos of Franco through to a 500 Pesetas of Juan Carlos II.

230. French Oceania
231. Reunion
232. Monaco
233. Bermuda
Monaco and Bermuda were new purchases ("upgrades" of a kind - different prettier types) for countries I probably already had coins from.
French Oceania and Reunion are geniunely new to my collection.
I also missed out on Vatican City and British India (I knew I had a few of those coins, so didn't buy, and did not realize until checking at home that somehow I hadn't yet entered any), passed on Danish West Indies (at $12-ish it was a bit too expensive, though cool), and overestimated Numista's coverage of Indian states (the coin I bought - for $5, at that, which is a lot of money - doesn't appear to be listed).
Still looking for many countries I don't yet have (hope to reach at least 250 before the reorganization makes the whole thing moot - 300 is sadly unlikely).
234. Vietnam - Empire
235. East Africa
236. Vatican City
237. Tristan da Cunha (Gough Island)
238. British East Indies (Sumatra)
I already explained the situation with Vatican City (though this coin was much cheaper than the ones I didn't buy yesterday).
The other four were geniune new additions (the Sumatra coin, in particular, cost $10... not sure why I agreed to buy that).
Don't really do the ludicrous collector-gimmick stuff much, but I saw this 1988 $5 Kennedy coin for, well, $5, and decided why not.
I mean, this particular coin looks a lot less gimmicky than most of the others, and I was probably going to get that country sometime in my quest to 300 anyway.

I found Q&D in a bulk bin, and Gabon I received in a swap. I did swap about $12 in catalog value for it, but I paid significantly below catalog value for the coins I swapped so I didn't mind too much.
My new country acquisition has really slowed down, because like you I'm not willing to pay $10 in cash just to acquire a single new country.

Oh, right, swap. I forgot that was a thing, I don't really participate in it because sending coins by mail from Russia is so complicated (and if they're pre-1966 coins, also illegal, at least without a special permit).
I still have a few leftover countries that I know I have but hadn't found and entered yet (Zaire, England, Livonia, India - British, Georgia!! not sure how I'm still missing Georgia, it's pretty common), as well as a few countries that aren't counted by Numista even though they darn should (Portuguese Guinea, British Guiana, Russian states).
And in a few cases (mostly ancient and/or medieval) I don't have the country because I don't know the precise attribution of my coin down to the variety (and/or it's not actually listed anyway... and, in at least one case, my attempts to add it failed). I did luck out with one Byzantine coin, where I was able to figure out the variety, and it turned out to be listed already.
So I'm pretty hopeful that I should make it to 250 countries eventually (would've been 300 too, but the reorganization is likely to hit earlier).
But I agree, I have a pretty low tolerance for paying a lot for a single non-ancient coin (just this month I passed on a Danish West Indies coin for $10).
