Of course, of course. :P

It's your turn now, by the way!
Ah it is my turn now, I forgot that part :P

I am not very good at these things, I'll try one, maybe it's too easy, we'll see.

is it a vector of disease ? (microbe, bacteria, virus, mushroom, arthropod, bug, germ etc...)

No

and this post is about famous landmarks :P

I am not 100% sure, but I don't think there are microbes, bacteria, viruses, mushrooms, arthropods, bugs or germs that are famous landmarks xD?

I thought about a namesake of this famous place.

I propose the Gates of Hell X-D in Turkmenistan

Don't worry, it's not too easy at all. (;0

Technically there's this giant fungus that's several kilometres across that's considered a natural landmark, but I don't think it's what you had in mind....

yes haha nice with 1 cryptic hint about the myth of Ivan the terrible who stabbed out the eyes of the architect so that he could never replicate such beauty again. Stabbing our eyes means you’re left in the dark! Respect mate :) and it’s your turn! :)
I've always been fascinated with that myth.
Here's my place:
Some people call it just a hole in the ground.

about your riddle, is it in the U.S.A.?
Is this on the Swiss/ French border?
people talking without speaking, people hearing without listening
It is in the USA, so it is not on the Swiss/French border.
I don’t know but is it Ground Zero monument to the fallen of the destruction of the World Trade Center? Had to think about this instantly!
Quote: "Salaction"I don’t know but is it Ground Zero monument to the fallen of the destruction of the World Trade Center? Had to think about this instantly!
No, it is not.
Is it he Grand Canyon?

if not, is it man made?
Is it the volcanic crater in Oregon ?

What a strange country Oregon (8 See this "Well of Torah":

Salaction is correct.
Great Job.
Your turn.
Great try by Frenchlover. I'd like to see that crater
Haha cool, this time without cheating :P

Okay let’s continue.

The hint is every hour a parade of apostels walks by.

Also the hint I gave before for the St.Basil’s Cathedral is again valid :)

An easy one to get it started again :P

I am sure some people get the hint instantly :P

good luck!
The Prague Orloj?

On a side note, if you enjoy stories of architects being disabled after constructing a masterpiece, the Taj Mahal is also in that category. :|
Yeah you are correct Cass, told you this would be an easy one :P

I’ll look into the Taj Mahal story haha :D

loved the clock when I was there ^^

but now it’s your turn!
Alright, here's a slightly more challenging one. ;)

This landmark is related to transportation, and yet it does not transport anything anywhere.
Statue of Liberty, because it’s been transported across the ocean in crates xD?
Nope! Not going to be that easy. :P

The monument itself includes a form of transportation I should say, but it doesn't transport anyone anywhere (anymore, anyway).
Could be tons of monuments, like a monument in mt wifes birthplace Krasny Luch with a Russian plane on a pole xD so let’s try narrow it down.

is it located in Europe?
if so is it located in France (because I believe you are from France :))
Yes, and yes, it is in France. ;)

One more hint; it will very shortly (in about a week) be a relevant time to go to this monument.
Armistice Day, Champs Elysees, Arc du Triomphe?
The Compiegne wagon?
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
Yes, loruca got it right; specifically the Clairière de l'Armistice, or Armistice Clearing at Rethondes near Compiègne!

https://uk.france.fr/en/haut-de-france/article/armistice-clearing-compiegne-forest
Soooo, here we go!

Hint 1:

Each year, over half a million people visit this ancient misnomer.
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
Is it in Europe?
Is it in the northern hemisphere ?

Yes to both!

if not, then is it in Italy?
Quote: "Salaction"Is it in Greece?

I'll answer this way notwithstanding the double clause:

Yes and Yes.

Read in what you may.
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
What do you mean?

In the rules it says

3. Multiple guesses may be asked at one time.

so How can it be Yes and Yes? It’s In Greece and in italy at the Same time?

Don't take it literally, but your History books are key in this one.
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
Hmmm.....

You said something about a misnomer earlier, so is it either the Parthenon in Athens or the similarly named Pantheon in Rome?

If neither, can you tell us when this monument was built?

Neither of the two.
But you are definitely in the right time period (more with the athenian than the roman one though).

To recap,

This misnomer is...
Visited by 1/2 million each year,
Both Italian and Greek,
Of ancient origin.
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
Is it in Sicily or Southern Italy? I know the Greek city states had a few colonies there (Magna Græcia).

Commonly known as the "Valley of the Temples", this site located next to Agrigento in Sicily is actually on top of a long hilly crest facing the sea!

Ayyy hole in one/slam dunk/goal/game, set, match/bingo/checkmate! (8

For my next one, I will do a monument that is more modern (but still quite old) than loruca's, and it features a statue of a woman holding something aloft. ;)
I doubt it's the Statue of Liberty somehow :P
Nope, it is not La Liberté Éclairant le Monde! :P
Not gonna be that easy.
Does it represent a Living human being?
If not
Does it represent a real human being,
If not
Does it represent a fictional human being,
if not
Does it represent a personification of an allegorical figure.

marianne ?
people talking without speaking, people hearing without listening
It doesn't represent a living, or a real, or a fictional human being; it is a personification.
Not The Motherland Calls, I did that in my first turn here already. :wiz:

It's not of Marianne either; in fact Marianne, if she were real, would have intensely detested this monument, at least for eight decades after its construction. :°
Bavaria in Munich ?

A local representation of "Germania" who is the personification of the German nation or the Germans as a whole.

Is this statue in honour of a national achievement?

Damn, good guess frenchlover!
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
Very close, Frenchlover, but no, it's not in Munich. ;)

Yes, it was erected to commemorate a national achievement.
So there is also the Niederwalddenkmal, located in the Niederwald, near Rüdesheim am Rhein in Hesse.
Referee of south atlantic islands
Yes! The Niederwalddenkmal, built in 1883 to commemorate the Franco-Prussian War and German unification in 1870-71.

Pretty damn awesome design too. It's one of the most underrated landmarks in Europe!

And here's the accompanying soundtrack (lyrics to sing along available on the statue's base!) :P

My turn !

What is this worldwide famous shop that should be in the Guinness World Records :8D

Referee of south atlantic islands
It is located in or associated with the UAE?
Is it the Manama Post Office?
YES YOU GOT IT !
Oh guy you are too clever !

Not Manama, the capital of Bahrain, but Manama, the Ajman enclave that spread this multitude of "Dunes"!
Referee of south atlantic islands
@Salaction
Your turn again!
Oh, haha I got it :P

I will come up with something in a bit, Cass. Busy at the moment :)

I have been there at the Manama Post Office haha, I was at the wedding of my friend last year in March who is from Bahrain whom I met through World of Warcraft.
Can you take my turn please, Cass?

Don't want this game to stop, but at the moment I really can't think of a good riddle about a famous place :(
@Salaction
My pleasure! :)

Okay, for my next monument I choose this; it is again a statue, but this one depicts an animal rather than a human.
Is it in Africa?
Is this a real animal?
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
No, not in Africa.

Yes, this animal is real, but it does not live (naturally, and any more at least) in the country this monument is in.
Is this animal a lion?
If not, is it a horse?
If not, does it live in a hot climate?
And most importantly, is this statue in it's place of origin.
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
So it's a statue of a real animal that used to exist naturally in the country where the statue is located, but no longer, only perhaps in captivity and it is not in Africa.

I had something in mind, but if not Africa, then it's something else.
Yes, this animal is a lion! That's a big step completed.

The statue is in its place of origin, if you mean whether it is located in the country that constructed it (e.g. the Statue of Liberty is not in its place of origin).
The lion of St. Mark in Venice?
If not, then
does this statue come as a pair?
There are way too many lions.
Is this statue from before the 20th century?
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
Not in Venice,

Doesn't come as a pair,

And yes, it's from before the 20th century. :°

Keep asking questions and you'll get there eventually!

Is this lion in Europe?
Is this lion in a city of more than 500000 people?
Is this lion connected with ye olde country?(UK)?
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
Yes, it is in Europe!

No, it is not in a city of more than 500,000 people; in fact it is in a city about a tenth that size.

No, not connected with the old country (the UK).

Not sure that Diogenes would have found more than 50,000 men in Paris :°
Referee of south atlantic islands
No, not the lions in front of the city hall of Paris. But yes, it is in France!

It is also much bigger than the one in front the city hall in Paris, too.

Fun hint, this statue was built around the same time and for the same war as my last monument was. :`
The biggest is the "Lion of Belfort"

Quote: "Frenchlover"The biggest is the "Lion of Belfort"

It originally faced Germany, but they had to turn it in the other direction to avoid a diplomatic incident.

sorry I skipped a message8.

So ... I recently found this place on googlemap and the reverse image search will tell you that it is a lake.
Even if there are not many people living in the area, the locals say it is fishy but it's a bit far to go and check and anyway it's not what makes it famous.

Would (if there are any) the fishes not be having a most excellent time in this lake? (i.e pollution of some sort?)
actually, I'll shoot a guess.
