Szwajcarskie złote monety nigdy nie zostały oficjalnie zdemonetyzowane, ale w 1936 r. frank został zdewaluowany w stosunku do złota, więc ich wartość kruszcowa stała się wyższa niż ich wartość prawna. W 1944 r. zaczęły one podlegać podatkowi obrotowemu, co było de facto demonetyzacją.
