Having read recently that only 2,100,000 of these coins will enter circulation, I am wondering who has the most of these, taken only from circulation.
I will start.
1. L-Loch Ness
Not seen any others, and no one I know who collected the 2018 series, has any either.
jimpop,
so you only have 1 from 2019, like me. I do have the complete 2018 set, from circulation, but it took a long time to get through many shops helping me, and of course, Numista swaps.
ZacUK,
My sympathies are with you.
I knew of the frustration, when collecting the 2018 set, but not looking to repeat this frustration with the 2019 set.
I believe with the very low issue, the 2019 set will never be completed from circulation coinage.
I still haven't got anymore 2019's , i'm getting a £100 sealed bag from the bank every 2 weeks ( straight from the clearing bank over 100 miles away , so they are mixed with coins from a large area ). Only had 1 2018 in the last 3 bags but my brother picked up E,L & M of the 2019's over the passed few weeks.
Merv.
I have a close friend who is still trying to finish the 2018 set, and needs two. She is not even thinking of wasting time on the 2019 set.
She will not buy them from the mint, as her goal, like mine, was to obtain them from circulation.
Yes, some of us are, but you live in Canada, so your chances of seeing any are nil.
The only way forward for you, and everyone else outside of the UK, is to bite the bullet and buy the complete set.
I was lucky in the fact that my friend works in my local post office, so had immediate access to these coins as there appeared. I also swapped a few with collectors on Numista, and a collector in the UK sent me some as a gift.
I have only one from 2019, and my friend at the post office has not seen any.
Yes indeed I bought the set when it first was announced at full price. Would have been great to get it at the 50%, but it’s never a given that such a discount would have come about. Most people even in the UK have not had luck in getting a substantially large number of coins, so I can imagine brits too biting the bullet and getting atleast one of the years with the discount
ashlobo,
I think you are correct in your message, that Brits too have bought the complete set. I suppose this was, in their minds, the only way of ensuring that they own the complete set.
As it stands today, I am the only collector I know who has managed to get the complete set from using circulation coinage.
I believe there are collectors in the UK, who has not seen any of these coins in circulation, with, if I remember correctly, ZacUK being one of them.
I do not think the Royal Mint could believe the furore these coins have created amongst us collectors.
They are still being advertised on eBay at hyper prices, but they do not seem to be selling them.
Quote: "ZacUK" Still correct - 2018 = nil, 2019 = nil
Maybe one day
I can barely find any 2018's at the moment let alone 2019's yet as most in my area were snapped up by collectors and the public quite quickly (I haven't seen any in circulation since the start of the year). Luckily enough, I've already completed the 2018 set (with several bought however). The coin that I've never seen in circulation before that surprises me is the extremely common Darwin £2, one day hopefully!

That's strange, as I got one in my change earlier this week.
I don't actually know anyone in my area with any 2019's either, also a few friends who always check for collectable coins that they don't have to swap haven't seen any yet.

Numismatic uk,
I do not know if my previous message was clear, but I was talking about the Darwin coin, which I had in my change this week.
I have totally give up any hope of getting any 2019 Alphabet coins.
The mint is taking the mick with these 10p coins. Does anybody actually like the designs? I consider the series to be unimaginative and they have little artistic merit.
DecimalHunter,
Yes, I do like most of the designs.
I would have liked to have seen an open option, where the general public could have selected subjects for each letter, then a vote to determine the most popular option.
The design would obviously be done by specialist designers, but we would have obtained some better choices for some of the letters.
For example. I would voted M-Mini.
Hi all,
I have just been through some more sealed bags of 10p's (£120.00) , I got......... NOTHING!!!!!
no 2018's , no 2019's
I'll have to see what the next lot yields in two weeks time.
i am finding traders that have them as spares , do not want to trade----my only coin is T for Tea
how did the reserve bank let them into the market
Maybe will need to buy off ebay site - anywhere from 1 pound up
Merv,
Do you have every other 10 pence coin from circulation. You collect them by the bucket load. If they ever increase in value, you will be a millionaire.
Hi all
Got another £120 from the bank yesterday, went through them and got "O" 2018 2 bags (£10.00) from the end.
That makes it 2 months & £610 that I've checked since my last "letter find". Can't find any 2019s 'anywhere . I may have to start buying them off eBay which means I will have to sell off some of my "RARE" 50p's that I have saved up, just to fund my buying.
Big thank you to Merv for sending me my final missing letter "N". 5 of the above are 2019 dated, the rest are 2018. Maybe one day I will replace these years and look for a complete set for both years, but for now I am more than happy.

Much appreciated. I couldn’t find it initially on the RAM website, but I got it now after searching “hunt” as key word. They’re taking off $5 for GST but postage is 30$. so I’m still debating whether I should take it. It’s certainly more reasonable than the UK set
YIPPEE!!!
Just received a package from somebody, I won a bid on ebay and have now completed the 2018 Alphabet set.
Now it's time to concentrate on 2019.
I had a huge stroke of luck with the lot on ebay, it only had 3 coins "R U & Z" and these were the last 3 that I had missing.
I have all the 2018 alphabeth ten pence coins too, I bought them all in a pack in the first days when they come out, but later found some in the change as well.

Also 1 in 5 sets of the coins in the 26 coin tube has the special privymarked "A" coin for Aussie Post. They are currently going on Oz ebay for up to AU$300 just for that 1 coin.

Thanks for letting me know, I did end up placing the order and I literally received the package last evening. I plan to open it up this evening, fingers crossed I get an "A" privy mark!
Have received my stock of alphabet coins from Australia happy to trade 1 on 1 with GB version only have T for Tea and it is proving difficult to prize from European traders- so will try this way. Still happy to trade against Aust series

1 australian dollar against 10p GB
You are ripping yourself off Muzz ... An Aussie Dollar is worth at least 50p.

Please do not give away the trade secret of the exchange rate. It is surely, a great offer, and that is fine.
Trouble is, most of these alphabet 10 pence coins, are on eBay at around £2.00 each, so we would actually lose out.
I am holding onto my spares to exchange for the 2019 series. I will hopefully, get some of the dollars through you, on our ongoing exchange??????????

Hi taken the liberty of adding yours to mine in one list-- is there another name for beaver????
Quote: "brismike"You should do one for NZ Muzz ..
H for Haka . . would be a cert lol.
Mike
But we have only had 2 since 1953- (circulating commeratives)would spoil our reputation HAHA
I laugh but I think it is a good idea to get youngsters going thru there change looking for the Special ones- I do it every time we go to Aussie looking for the elusive20 cent and coloured $2
I was not to popular at one bank i went to in Brisbane-- sat there at back counter sorting them out, and than taken them back to the cashier and asking for another - I spent nearly 3 hours going thru cash- you have to remenber to take a felt pen so that you can mark the bag and not get the same one again
If I was living in England that is what i would be doing haha
I am going to the Royal Mint today for my belated Birthday present from my daughter.
Should be a great day and very much looking forward to it.
I will let you all know tomorrow, how I got on and what I bought to commemorate my day.

Geoff you will be like a kid in a toy/sweet shop. When I went last year I really loved it, apart from having to pay to go on the tour. If you don't want to go on the tour you can still go in the shop and have a look at all the lovely coins they have for sale.
Enjoy. - Mike

Mike,
Had a great day at the Royal Mint today. The tour was a Birthday present so not worried about costs.
I actually enjoyed the tour, and even learnt a few things.
When it came to buying I did not know where to start, but came home with a bag full.
Now have to sort through them. All GB coins today.
Next time will be the VIP tour, where you see the manufacture of silver and gold. Never mind, my Birthday is coming up in September 2020.
Minted my own coin whilst I was there. Wallis and Gromit 50 pence. Photo to follow.

Moneytane,
This situation seems very strange.
A collector in New Zealand has three 2019 Alphabet coins, whereas a collector in the UK, (i.e.- me), has only one.
May need to move house to the other side of the globe to continue this collection.
I got lucky as I have a good friend in the UK, whom I asked about the coins back in mid/late 2018 and he said they were scarce as hens teeth, but would look around for me anyway, and various emails discussed how he found one or two.
At 82, the novelty of saving change coins had worn off for him and he knew I would be delighted with them, so he saved them for me and mailed them before Christmas and told me he will put aside any more he finds.
Guess I am just lucky - if it helps he uses cash a lot when he shops and is a bit of computer banking skeptic like most people are at that age. Either way I am very grateful.

Of course it is impossible to get them here in change in Australia lol ... (The UK 2019 Alphabet coins that is). So I am just going to buy a set on Fleabay like I did with the 2018 ones.
Had a look on UK Ebay last night and some of the asking prices for these coins are ridiculous. Some sellers are asking up to £7 or £8 for 1 coin! Others are letting them go for just over a quid.
Seems the average reasonable price is around £2 to £2.50 per coin. But trying to get the full set by buying from different sellers will be a nightmare. So I'm going to see if I can get a full set from 1 seller for around £50 to £55.
Wish me luck.
Mike

I ended up buying them direct from the Royal Mint at £2 each. Because I am in Australia they deducted VAT so I got them for just over £40 for the set of 26 all UNC and perfect condition.
Don't buy them from the ebay sharks. Just go to the Royal Mint website.
Cheers Mike

After nearly 9 months, I finally received some Alphabet coins for my collection.
Actually swapped seven coins for some European coins. Very happy day, even though it's Friday the Thirteenth.
Myth cast aside for me today.
My luck improves more. It seems last year I bought a 1993 Uncirculated set for $5 (£2.35) and this set has the famous 1992/93 European Union 50p.
Imagine my surprise when I see the coin is the rarest of the pre 1997 era 50ps (I am sure kew Gardens is much more rare). Seems my $5 investment is worth at least $80.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Hi coinman, yes I would be happy to swap my spare 2019 J as long as you are in the UK, you are happy with standard post and you have a 2018 that i need?
Down to 12 of the 2019 series needed, so over half way.
Did a little exchange last week, and have three 2019 series coins to exchange for three I need.
For swap O, P & Q
I need A, B, D, F, G, I, N, R, T, W, Y & Z
Prepared to make any exchange larger so as to make postal costs viable.
Contact me if interested
Sorry to bring this to everyone's attention again, but I received two 2019 series alphabet coins as part of an exchange this morning.
6 more needed. A, B, T, W, Y & Z
Any help in finishing this series would be gratefully received
