Edge varieties or errors?

I have these 3 coins.
One of them, the edge is reeded as per normal, but has a continuous groove about 5/6ths of the way down the flan.
One of the coins is reeded as per normal on half the coin and the other half is smooth.
The remaining coin is entirely smooth without the faintest trace of any reeding.

Are these errors or should they be considered “varieties” and placed into the “comments” on the coins page?

Quality control errors are common on all Indian coins….

So I shouldn't think of these as anything special?

No, they are not variants, but errors, which are normally not treated by numista, but they can be mentioned in the comment section.

But this is nothing specific to these coins and adding general information that is true for hundreds or even thousands of similar coins doesn't seem that useful in the comments IMO. They have chosen a very hard material to mint with (stainless steel), yes coins wear less in circulation and they are cheap but it also wears down dies hard and takes a toll on the machinery leading to countless weak strikes. Combine this with huge mintages and maybe lacking QC and these become more a norm than an exception.

You could consider them varieties if you really wanted to, but issues with the edges on both the 1 and 2 rupee of this series are so common that I don't bother.

Very informative.

This was the answer I was looking for.
Many thanks.
