I just got a package from Harris79. He did absolutely nothing wrong, but someone at the post in either England or the Netherlands ripped open the letter and stole the coins!!
Unbelievable. All coins GONE. I am so infuriated.
Thanks for the beautiful card. At least that is left.
Stupid note from the Dutch post that ‘something did not go well’ and they ‘apologize for that’. IDIOTS!!! Not even possible to get reimbursement!!!

Such a pity … dat vinden we erg vervelend!
Compensation should be asked by the sender, so maybe Harris79 can give it a try … or at least recoup the postage. This is clearly robbery, as it"s not just some slight damage of the envelope AND PostNL does admit with the letter that it arrived damaged like that to you.

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!
Just scroll down and click on the button “Schade melden” and then on the three dots in the corner to switch to English. Maybe you'll be able to get some form of reimbursement.
This is one of the reasons, why I wrap my swap/gift-parcels completely with cellotape, so it is nearly impossible to tear them open in a second, and also there should be cardboard on both sides of the coins, so it is not easy, from outside to detect there are coins inside. But against real thiefs/bastards there is nothing to stop them.

Yep, i will now do that. Have sold a coin today on Marktplaats, already almost completely packaged it in tape.
It's sad you can't trust an institution that you should be able to trust.

In my experience the sending post is responsable when something gets lost or broken, as they got paid. So in this case Royal Mail probably. They will compensate/refund/start enquiry as they see necessary … or just try to get out from under their responsibilities 😞

I think it is someone at PostNL. It can't be that it traveled across the puddle completely ripped open. The apology in Dutch is also an indicator someone at the post sorting center saw their chance to make a few euros.

I'm gutted by this, I'll go to the Post Office but I doubt I'll get very far.

That really sucks when we can not trust public officials. And these are developed countries too, not poor ones.
Almost reminds me of a time back in 2006, a friend of mine sent me 2 postcards from Indonesia and I had to pay postage due as the stamps had been steamed off. This world has just got so dishonest.
Seems postal workers were so poorly paid then, the steamed off stamps worth 5500 rupiah then (90 cents in 2006 and 57 cents now) and sold them back to the post office!
You think with the high prices that Post Offices charge now and the slowness of service, poor quality delivery and everything else, they could be at least honest, but no selfishness and dishonesty rules the roost.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Posted them earlier today so they should arrive before Christmas hopefully.
Your letter arrived yesterday, thank you very much 🙏
Just one little recommendation: considering the fact they were notes (so basically sheets of paper), next time, please, don't fill any customs declaration (had to pay 5 EUR for customs fees) 😀
Sorry @AC7588 about that I thought it only occurred if the value was over €2. From now on all Italian swaps I would declare them as worthless documents.
I’ve checked my postbox and I’ve received the last two simultaneously from @Giobruno (I appreciate the stamps as a family member would receive them as a present too!) and @miragex !
It seems like the combination of @Leitwolf started the gift exchange earlier and most users participating are located in Europe, thus out items are being delivered well in advance.
Its just mine to @Moneytane that is still at Santas grotto in Lapland.
Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.

Glad to know my letter arrived safely.
About the stamps, thanks for the compliment but I didn't chose them, it was the mail clerk who sticked them.
Received my letter from Yvon today, just 16½ days to get from Netherlands to New Zealand. Can't wait for Christmas as its feeling heavy!
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

My letter from Worldwide collection arrived today, meaning I have both sitting under the Christmas tree and my letter to Germany has also arrived there, just waiting for the Belgian one to arrive there.
Overall a massive improvement on last year.

Well, my last letter from Maori Claus just arrived this morning! Santa has done a great job this year, congratulation to all his elves and grinches out there 🥰

If it helps we even have our own name for your Sinterklaas. - We call him Hana Koko.
Glad its there, all of this gladdens my heart. Last year my letters sent out on Dec 4th, took until Jan 20th and Feb 11th to arrive, now my European friends can enjoy Meri Kirimete taonga kua Kirimete taima (Merry Christmas gifts at Christmas time). Yes those are made up words as Maori did not have Christmas until the British arrived, taonga meaning a gift or precious, is the only ancient word there.
Bringing the sending time back to late November was a great idea.
Wonder how this will fare next year as some countries like Denmark are winding up their letter post this year.

Opening my Christmas gifts before joining the family party … Santa sent me three gifts from all over the world ( far and closeby) 😀
I must have impressed Santa as I am very much impressed by the content of the presents and the nice cards. Great animal coins, even 2 silver coins and beautiful banknotes, great additions to all my collections. Thanks and merci to @Moneytane@Compendium and @opannob for assisting in the task.
Wishing all a merry christmas, happy new year and just all the best in the coming 12 months, independant of the holidays you are celebrating.
And hopefully all presents in transport will still arrive safely.

I have opened up the gift from @gros and was met with 5 beautiful french coins ranging from 1915 to 1986! I really love both of the 50 centimes, the designs are amazing! Thank you very much gros.

I’ve opened mine after my Christmas Eve dinner before church and I’m very pleased with the items received as it’s my first time participating. I’ll 100% be doing it again next year.
Thanks @Leitwolf for organising the exchange and I appreciate the coins and postcard ;).
Appreciate the Brazilian and Chile banknotes @Giobruno as well as the card plus indirectly the stamps for my mother as she does collect them.
This year went well in my opinion with the earlier start although 4/20 total participants were outside of Europe thus most of our gifts arrived fairly early due to the shorter distance, therefore apart from one getting stolen and wrecked and another user late posting theirs I liked how it went but we had more participants in 2024 and more diverse groupings the years prior but I think rising costs of postage is a factor to the lower amount of people participating this year.

Got a nice, although unexpected in silver, George V six pence dated 1913 from @RegularCoiner, a type I already had, but this one is a nice upgrade
And from @Marc16 a nice postcard with a view of Vanadisplan in Stockholm as it was in the 30'-40'
plus a funny chocolate bus almost 30 years old, accompanied by a disclaimer saying “DO NOT EAT” 😁
And then the coins : two silver coins : a Queen Victoria six pence dated 1896 and a Queen Wilhelmina 10 cents dated 1939
And to finish with (yes, there was more) a cute tiny LRB from the roman emperor Valens with a Gloria Romanorum reverse. I couldn't find out the mint though, since the exergue is off flan
Thank you both for the nice gifts and kind words going with them
One thing I want you to know: I picked the chilean note because I saw you had no Chile banknotes in your collection.
So, enjoy the best part of my gift: adding a new country to your collection.
Thanks for that.

I finally got the chance to open mine from @Harris79 as I had a full day of festivities with my family. This Christmas, I have received my first English note. I really appreciate it, Steve!
Here's obverse and revere photos of the note with the card I received with it:
An excellent example fit for my collection and a great present to open this Christmas.
Hello,
I opened my presents this morning 😀 and I must say that Alexis gave me a wonderful gift: banknotes from countries I didn't have and the 5 Pound note featuring Queen Elizabeth II and Winston Churchill.
A big thank you to you, Alexis, and also to Leitwolf and Numista.
Happy holidays to all.

I thank Santa very much for the beautifull coins which he sent to me through @Potator II and @miragex. The coins found a special place in my collection.
Unfortunately my computerskills are to poor to put pictures here. Also big thanks for Santa's ‘right hand’ @Leitwolf who organised this pleasant event! Best regards, Yvon

Glad it turned out to be an upgrade and not a downgrade 🙃
I unpacked my two letters today. Many thanks to @Moneytane and @Potator II for the wonderful coins I can add to my collection!
I think it was a good idea to start a little earlier this year, and I hope there will be a few more participants next time.
Best regards, Leitwolf
Glad to see they got there and safe, enjoy them!

My very beautiful gifts from Yvon and Worldwide Collection are very welcome in my collection. Rare coins in high grade and interesting cards showing where they are from. Thank you guys!
Yvon gave me a nice set of British West African silver coins only issued in the 1910s, very hard to find here and all in VF/EF condition!
Worldwide sent me a great 50p with a Bear on it, which is another goal of mine to collect coins with bears on them, regardless if real wild bears, cartoon bears or the ones with beards and leather! I also love large bimetallics and his coins summed up his Mexican/British heritage well. These were well thought out and beautiful presents!
