Turkiye COMHURIYETI 1923/(84???)

Hi all,

  Need help please. According to the NGC site, info on this coin reads: 

KM-851
1923/20-1923/79
25 Kurush

If this means they were only minted with the numbers ‘/20’ thru ‘/79’, what explains the ‘/84’ on this coin? I believe it is in its original sealed packaging.

 2007 = 1923 + 84 as according to that page > 

The year date is based on the number of years since 1923, 

when Turkey was established as a Republic. 

 So all coins/bullion have 1923 then the numbers of years since changes. 

Mostly with 1923/27 to 1923/90 on that page, and a few others.

All the year lines should be changed to 1923 (actual Gregorian), either a range or the year that has 10 month overlap.

SCWC made a mistake. In the 1901-2000 catalog the years for this coin go from 1923/20 (1943) to 1923/77 (2000).

Then in the 2001-Date 13th edition they pick up this coin at year 1923/78 (2001) followed by 1923/79 (2002) followed by 1923/70 (1993) on up to 1923/77 (2000). Clearly a typo, 7x instead of 8x.

NGC has just blindly repeated the mistake generated by SCWC.

Numista fix the mistake.
