Quote: Mark240590 So when I go to Portugal in the summer I should be watching out for Dutch 1 & 2 cents ?You could, but 1 cent coins from 1999 - 2004 (except 2002) and 2 cent coins from 1999 - 2004 aren't rare. So everything from 2005 and beyond is scarce.

That is a triple favourite of mine (which I own), as not only does it have an animal on it, it is also bimetal, and is also a 15 degree die rotation error!

I am no good at haggling - this afternoon I went into a pawnbroker's (my first time ever) as in the window I saw a lovely lion proof coin in a capsule. I asked how much, he said twenty pounds, I said alright! Perhaps I should have offered £5 to start with, then worked up; maybe next time.
There is no KM number that I can see. The diameter is 40mm and thickness 3mm in the holder.
Obverse: REPUBLIQUE DEMOCRATIQUE DU CONGO 10 Francs
Reverse: MAP OF THE P.R. OF CHINA 2003
and with gold colouring on the map, with a red insert near top right of map. Any scratches are needless to say on the holder not the coin. Probably made of silver, and has a milled edge.

agree :) mask is stylized fish. but its not fish at all - its a mask.
for me, this one is not a reason to take it in a thread " coins with animals" as wolf , if it is exist on the coin.
but.. who knows - people are different :)
probably for someone it is a wolf as animal. 100 men - 100 reason :)

What about a very very old style of wild boars? Here is the

And what about a Carthage horse?

Just thinking on starting a collection of coins containing animals on it, and found this great thread!
I specially loved those ones from Australia and New Zealand. Also Nessie one is awesome!
Here my contribution. South African Rands coins are also good examples:

It is the other side of the previous image - so those two and the previous two,
have no lettering either side. Maybe German spielmarke.
I now found the listing I bought them from, as a pair, and the title was >

Notgeld means
emergency money and was used when there were a shortage of either national money in general or material for struckkng coins. These were often released during wars.
During WWI the German state, in thus case, couldn't provide the country with coins and banknotes, so each city/province/state was given the right to struck their own coins and print their own banknotes.

Yes I understand, but if you put Not into google translate it gives you Not in English
