The least few days I have noticed some forum responses from one particular member to new members that are loaded with exclamations, capital characters and with a general unfriendly tone. There is no need for this. New members should be made to feel welcome, and when they make a mistake, a kind word of guidance will have much more effect than an angry paragraph.
But to be honest, not saying I am against your statement, the initial post of new members also shows the staying power of many new accounts, the majority being pump ‘n dump ones regardless of how 'nice' the first contacts are (like 90% of Numista “members”).
Even if it is a Pump 'n Dump account, by responding in a friendly and helpful manner, we at least improve the chances of that account remaining active and possibly becoming a contributing member. (However small the chance may be)
Every time we respond to a tread in a helpful manner, we document a little bit of knowledge. Over the years I have been part of this incredible community I have learned countless useful things by searching the forum and we never know when that information shared with a P'nD account will help someone else.
Sometimes it's difficult to welcome new members, you know when their first post starts with, how much is this worth, and they show bad images of a common coin. And that's it! They don't really want to know anything, just the value. Since “values” are absolutely not a parameter in my way of collecting, I never join in, expressing my opinion.
We never managed to get through the demand to have new members to read the forum's policies, BEFORE they would be allowed to post, we just nicely remind them afterward.
Maybe we should make a standard phrase to answer the basic cases:
“Welcome to Numista, please help us to help you by following the forum policy”
and don't give any 100% solution up-front, let the “new” members do most of the work themselves, so just give a hint, if you think you have anything correct to say. Those “new members” with a real numismatic interest will appreciate it and might stay. The value seekers will probably not, once they find out that coins will not bring them a fortune!

I agree, give the new members a break (I know its not me), but now I just avoid the value seekers, sadly 90% are not sincere and just in for the news that they are sitting on a gold mine and their 1899 UK penny with visible date is a rare survivior from the antidilluvian age worth $1000000000000.
Pump and dump, I like that term. Those “How much is my coin worth” threads from 1 or 2 post members are common on nearly every hobby site. Stampboards is littered with the same and they combined all the enquiries into one thread. However common patterns emerged.
1. A high number of value seekers assumed their stamps were rare and valuable, because of their age (Meaningless with most stamps and even a stamp from 1855 can be under a $1), who gave them it (Any grandparent or great grandparent was seen like Moses giving you the 10 commandments). And the country they came from, if the country was pre WW2 or WW1 it was seen as rarer and better. Finally and the worst type were the ones who assumed the stamp was valuable due to “something they had seen on the internet that was worth $1000000 or whatever”.
In reality most of the time, the stamps were common, standard rates (like 1 penny, 10 centimes, 10 pfennig etc), if they were better - they were also in bad condition (Toning which is nice on coins, is bad on stamps!), old usually meant something from like 1925 at the oldest and 1970s most of the time, when you have 12 year old kids of 25 year olds with no understanding of history etc - this is old to them. To most seasoned collectors, only a stamp before 1900 is considered old and 1870 to be vintage one. Exotic countries turned out to be “wallpaper” from places like Hungary, Romania (Communist era stamps were excessive and worthless), Abu Dhabi, Khor Fakkan, Dhufar (Arab “sand dune” issues of 1966 - 1972 that were not real stamps and considered “Kiddie Krap”).
2. Value seekers from non English speaking and non 1st world countries, the responses to them were harsh as 1st respondents were offering 1st world advice and criticism to these people. There was also many value seekers from people with “Below average intelligence” who could not understand basic history, usage or other facts about stamps and could only see $$ signs.
3. People going on about how their stamp looks like a $50k one on the internet, the worst was the Irish 2d Map stamp of 1922 - this stamp was dirt common and Ireland's commonest ever stamp to 1970 (It was the standard postage rate for 20 years and still used heavily afterwards), but there is one scarce perf variety from a booklet worth a few thousands and its easily identifiable from the rest - yet every single person with one think its that variety!
4. Newbies with atrocious spelling and grammar, as Stampboards is a global site like this one, we can make allowances from countries where English or French is not spoken at all (Like Angola, Peru, Burma, Bhutan etc), but many posts by young or less intelligent people were all in caps, lower case, had no punctuation etc and spelled many words wrong “is this Stamp rear, it was givin 2 me by my grans, she 47 now”.
So to sum up - our value seekers are a paradise next to that site - I seldom see too many bad ones now, but I hardly ever bother responding to threads, because my responses will always anger the newbie or someone who thinks I am being too rude or even too nice in one case.
And yes get rid of the rude person, we need ambassadors for our hobby - not ogres scaring people off.
Still how many of us “established members” actually started as a “How much is this coin worth” type poster - I know I didn't. My first posts were about some coin I had brought and wanted to share with you all in the monthly thread. My value seeking posts have all been more for the date and country of the coin (My medieval and Arabic pieces).

From my experience in other coin related forums, these burner accounts created to ask id/value questions very rarely stick around. If they have made 0 attempt to ID the coin in the first place, i would say it is obvious they are not interested in the hobby. Not a reason to be rude though, just don't reply if you don't want to waste your time on those posts is my opinion.
You are perfectly right in all you are saying! 100%!
To not waste your time with those new ''burner OP'' is a perfect & correct way to see the ''things''. In most cases, situations.
But… tell me please how can you stay passive & not react at all (= give no reply!) in those particular cases in which, besides the fact that it is obvious that you deal with a ''burner'',THIS ONE ALREADY (PREVIOUSLY) HAS ‘’SMASHED OFF WITH HIS LEGS'' THROUGH YOUR JUST FINISHED WORK?!?
Please, tell me HOW do you feel at those moments?
And,besides how you feel,to not give any reply,to ignore completely what that naughty guy did, ISN'T AN OBVIOUS ENCOURAGEMENT TO THOSE PERSONS TO CONTINUE ACTING JUST THE WAY THEY DID UP TO THAT MOMENT?!?
My humble opinion is that, yes,it is!
In life,in most situations,to stay passive & REGARDLESS OF EVERYTHING,is not also a good civic attitude,is not a good lesson for someone who did something wrong and, finally,DOES NOT IMPROUVE THE SOCIETY!
I join a late phylosopher who said that a society, people may evolve & improuve by its/their own, only by the permanent ‘’fight''between GOOD & EVIL!
One more thing: To be rude is a matter of speaking, this only happened in the vision of certain Numista member(s)!
We never managed to get through the demand to have new members to read the forum's policies, BEFORE they would be allowed to post, we just nicely remind them afterward.
I reckon that when you gave created an account and you click the Reply/New Topic button for the first time, you'll get “transported” to the Numista Forum Guidelines which you must read (or at leasr scroll all the way to the bottom) before you click “I understand”/"I accept", and then you'll get “transported” back to the where you can write your post. This way no one can blame that it “too difficult to find”, and they all had their chance to actually read the guidelines.

Typing with lots of capital letters is also considered rude. (People usually read it as yelling.)
Sorry, but you & those who think like you do,are fundamenticaly wrong: it is just an emphasis,an accentuation if you want! Not at all a yelling!
I have been learned at school,by my teachers,to write like this when needed, then I graduated ''Magna cum laude'' other University classes (5 years of studies at Polytechnics) and none of my professors (a lot) complained the way I'm writting!
Only on the ''famous'' site Numista I heard such a complaint!

I doubt that you were taught to write in capitals, as the internet wasn’t around when you were at school. Please, either stop bragging about graduating magna cum laude or start acting like you have a degree. You are rude, regardless of what you think you are. I suggest that you make yourself familiar with the etiquette of technology. I took the liberty of finding the right page for you: https://ro.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netichetă.

@AndiPasculescu10 Pathetic. You have over 600 posts in this forum. Act your age.
I would expect that someone with such a contribution would have the wisdom and insight to know how to conduct themselves with an appropriate level of dignity rather than resorting to a post such as this, which you have addressed to 'all' of us.
I am not aware of having read any of your posts which were of an unacceptable nature, except for this one, which by using the term ‘all’, you have addressed to me also - I take exception to this. Such a mindless rant cannot go unanswered.
Please, do us a favour, and leave the forum - it would do better without such puerile behaviour from a member who ought to know how to behave appropriately.

Hey smvdbrink. Please be comforted by the fact that this is not how I teach my L2 students here in my university in Thailand. My students have never “gradueted“, they all have graduated. Maybe I could become an educational consultant for that university in Romania. I hope the gig would pay well.

I don't consider someone simply asking for a coin id / value to be ‘evil’. I understand it might be annoying, especially if the coin is easy to ID but at the same time it is harmless, that is my view. If a post breaks ToCs you could report it.
Andi sent me a very rude message and judging by his posts, I really think he should be perma banned from the site. I have been censured on other boards for much less.
I doubt he graduated from anything past primary school as his posts are more laden with spelling and grammar errors than mine.
With age comes wisdom is not always true.
Please share the coin love people. We love coins, they love us - lets share it and stop allowing people like Andi to throw wobblies. I went through a nasty phase here, but have moved heaven and earth to tone it back and here I still am!

It’s not fair to judge someone by spelling and grammar. English is not his native language and even people who have sexdaily, eh, dyslexia, can get a degree.
True, as my own skills in that department are severely lacking.
But his attitude to others makes mine look like peaches and cream.
I am agreeing with the premise of this thread, we need future coin collectors - not repel them. It is amazing how many “value seekers” can be turned into great numismatists that grow the noble hobby.

Come on you, guys. Have we all forgot how to play in the sand box, together? This is one of the things i quite for a while. You know you don't have to have the last word. Or jumping in mob. We are all here because of one thing. We all love to collect coins, bank notes, or tokens. If you do not like the fly by nights, what the value. Do not open the post or do not answer the post. Does it really matter how you spell countryes (countries). Well that is my two cents.
The worst thing is to say: your coin worths nothing! Even an horible counterfeit of a Chinese cash is an invitation to discover another civilization in which a fengshui coin means something 😜
So I'm a new member but not a new collector, I have a pretty advanced collection of coins and currency. I've been collecting coins since I was 7 and have a very collection of US and Portuguese coins and currency. I came on here to ask a question and was berated as I didn't phrase the collection correctly.
So I didn't feel welcomed and pretty much left the forums. I still use Numista for the information, but a lot of you old timers aren't a friendly much.

I would have added: Welcome to numista, please help us to help yourself, and then the rest…. as in the original answer to your message.
If you read my post, I asked a few questions about a specific coin, I don't have a photo as the coin wasn't mine, I asked specific questions and I was told to include a link. I included the KM number. Since the response was to take pictures and provide a numista link, my questions weren't answered or acknowledged. Not a real nice way to treat someone on their first post.

This type of response is why you have to have a “Be nice to new collectors topic”.
You could have supplied the numista link to the coin in question, couldn't you? Nice works both ways. Why should everybody try to find the coin sheet you talked abou, when you already had it?

I could have and would have but why was it needed? I provided the KM Number and asked specific questions about a specific coin (2 centavos portuguese Iron coin). This is a pretty rare and valuable coin that if you know what it is you know the coin I am speaking of. If you don't you wouldn't be able to answer my question anyway. If some on here asked me for example about a P-171 1000 escudo note, I need no Numista link, I know the note inside and out, I can tell its story and its history and how it led to the fall of the New State (Estadio Nova). The 2 centavo in Iron is comparable to the 1924 Canadian cent or the 1909 S VDB, no one should need a link to these if brought up in a post. If you need a link you can't answer my question.
If I needed a lesson in how to provide a link, it would have made much more sense to answer the question and AFTER answering the question explain the etiquette of the forum.
Not every new person that comes on here, knows there are “things” one has to do to get an answer.
I assumed that someone with almost 10,000 posts would understand that.
Sorry, I'm just trying to explain to you, why you got the original answer you did. I was not in that thread at all, so try to understand what I'm trying to tell you as a fellow collector.
When I have questions, I try to make it easy for everybody to understand, like here:
I doubt he graduated from anything past primary school as his posts are more laden with spelling and grammar errors than mine.
Moneytane dixit!
Means nothing to me, like 90% of us, we speak English. But I am guessing its an Engineering diploma. Very good, perhaps a degree from the Bucharest school of manners and deportment may have helped too.
Romania was also communist then, so what was the Diploma (Which is a 2 year sub degree level course here) for?
Just because you have a degree, does not make you smarter than the rest of us, or to talk smack about other people and send them rude messages.
Yes I admit, I did not know you were Romanian and thus English was not your first language, so hence my remarks which I take back about your education level. However my comments about your complete lack of tact remain.
Everyone else - that is what I do now, ignore with a swiftness posts from “Value seekers” and the truly clueless as I know my poisonous response will send a bad signal to the thread starter and also make me look stupid.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Anyone know that Alanis Morissette song ‘Isn’t it ironic'? So funny/sad that a post about being kind to members should generate such vitriol. I fail to see what benefit can be derived from such negative comments - if you haven't got anything positive to say, then keep it to yourself and move on. Whilst I agree with the principle behind the original post, I would suggest rather than ‘Be kind to new members’, we should be saying ‘Be kind to all members’.
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.
New members should be made to feel welcome, and when they make a mistake, a kind word of guidance will have much more effect than an angry paragraph.
This also goes for older members. It's a disgrace to read what's happening here now.
It will stop. The air cleared - it had to happen-the bubble has burst and I'm withdrawing my post -do it. Time to delete your posts in this thread.

We all have out limits, and when we reach it it's hard to control it. The most important thing is to be able to take a step back, acknowledge what happened, apologise, try to learn from it, and wanting to do better next time. We're only human after all, so cheer up my friend. 😊

But what I like here is that we are bit more liberal than some coin boards like Coin Community Forum, where I got booted off permanently because of my beef with someone called “Dorado” who bombed the show your coins of so and so a year, place, type etc, with his images of mediocre coins. the rule was no more than 5 coins per post and wait at least 2 hours before reporsting for someone else. Dorado would do like 25 posts in one go with like 4000 x 4000 pixel images, so our computers would smoke and crash downloading them.
He was also frequently sarcastic to other posters, yet never got warned or punished, whereas I had the book thrown at me. No chances, one mess up and you are OUT permanently. The moderation style was “Selective Stasi”. Please don't ever let this place get like that.
Some of us have things like dyslexia and autism, which means we can't always be sweet as pie and live in less than ideal situations - so being cheerful and nice is not always easy.
Maybe our Romanian friend also has some issues going on his life and the latest value seeker wanting to know how much his 1938 worn UK penny is worth, tipped him over the edge?

Hello,sir!
I didn't want to leave forever the Forum (as,with hardness,I was asked by Hibernia to do! Like a ''favour'' done to all of you) without clarifying with you a misunderstanding. Because I have noticed a misunderstanding (of course, without your fault & will) in your above message to me.
So,I come back to you as to let you know that, again, what you say is very correct, theoreticaly speaking. I said ''theoreticaly'' because the misunderstanding I am talking about is this: Unfortunately you don't know how the real facts happened!
That new member posted here his first topic, asking for the value of a coin. When I saw his topic,I immediately noticed that an identical topic was placed just 2 days before on another site.
There,I responded to his question in the most kind & friendly manner. He gave no reply to my answer to his question! I said to myself ''No problem, probably the guy had no time yet to check the site again…''
Just 2 day after this I saw the identical topic on Numista. That's the right moment when I got angry! The free answer to him on that other site's Forum was ''my work'', I wasted time to do some search, to collect information for him, to write my response… Again,I asked myself: ''How is it possible that without a very, very little ''Thanks!'', ignoring me completely,< smashing with his legs my free work for him!>, he came to a new site and asked the same question?!?!''
Additionaly,what happened on Numista?
He received from another member (spookie) a same answer like mine (on the other site), with a very, very close evaluation as mine.
But on Numista,what happened next?
In a matter of a few hours after the answer for him was given, the new member responded with many thanks for the help he promptly received!..
Big disappointment and even a sort of anger for me!
I decided to write,on Numista,a message to the ''new member'' asking him, in normal words(not hard), why he treated me so differently?! He quickly replied that he didn't see my answer because he is used that, after receiving a first answer (there was indeed a previous answer to mine), to never check again his Inbox,as to look after other new responses!…
I asked him again one more thing ‘’When did he say the truth: to me, that he doesn't check for new responses after receiving one or on Numista when, in a matter of time(!), he came back on this new site to recheck it ?!
That was all!
This change of a few msgs., as to clarify a situation was immediately calified, considered by rsirian1 as my lack of kindness for a (helpless) new member, my rude behaviour & my ''public wash of dirty laundry''!….
This was the beggining, you know the rest of the ''story''!
* P.S.: Of course, somebody is free as he can be to ask how many pieces of advice he wants from ''N'' persones (for his belongings) but not like this, ignoring & defying previous opinions/answers This is the ‘’fight between Good & Evil'' I was talking about,in a figurative manner. The ''fight'' between 2 kinds of acting for the same purpose, both types of action for the posting person:
1) how he should have been acting in a correct & polite manner! (= The Good)
2) the real way he acted! (= The Evil)
So,there is no question that the posting of a topic could ever been considered a sort of bad, evil action, not even an annoying one. Please, view my previous posts about other (many) requests for identifications & evaluations of coins! I always offered with pleasure my help to every person (coin collector or not!) who was in need!
There's no harm in asking about coins regardless of knowledge level.
As I stated(very clearly,in my opinion!)previously, not people are ''evil''(in a figurative manner speaking!) but their way of acting may be, sometimes, qualified like this (and, also,in a figurative manner).
Additionaly,I never blamed any knowledge level & always I offered my friendly help to all (fair) persons who asked for numismatic info.
We must also realise that most of us don't have English as our first language, and therefore the written word could be interpreted by the reader as something totally different than the writer was intending. So before judging the content of the text, just ask one more time so you know you have understood it correctly.
Just remember that some things can be said jokingly in one language, but is a grave insult in another.

Hello,sir!
Thank you very much again for another common sense reply of yours & a so pertinent approach to the problem(s).
Please be kind to note that, not less than 3 times,I tried to express in my poor english what I really think all the time and I ment to say previously!
Please also note that as poor as my english could be,I trully believed to be very well/correctly understood by english speakers (as their first language!) like FlyingRedPanda!
Why do you just want to put the lid on and run? Why don't you want to silve this issue once and for all. Many, if not most, of the rumble in the forum is because of a language barrier. This must be brought to light so people understand that there might be a different meaning to the message than what it actually say. You can't just sweep this under the rug and pretend as if nothing ever happend. You also don't have to personally involve yourself in this if it makes you uncomfortable.

Just one little point I'd like to make on this topic:
As more senior members, it may seem annoying to us that the same mistakes are repeated all the time by new members, particularly lack of photos, or photos so bad you can't identify any detail on the brown circular thing they want to identify. Yet, we have to remember that it may be a hundred times we've seen this, but it's always the first time individually for each of these new members.
More annoying than the first-post mistake, IMHO, is when a new member (or an old member BTW) doesn't even thank someone who gave a detailed reply. Whether you're new or experienced at coin collecting, acknowledging the efforts of others who tried their best to help you is just basic decency.
Dear sir,you receive now a message from the most ferocious ogre that ever existed on Earth or on the ''Stories' Lands''.👺 As so,I am doomed to terribly scare off each living person who has the bad chance to enter in any contact with me! 😬
Brrrrrrr! Don't you already feel my malefic presence and beggin to fear me a lot?!? 😱
ReBrrrrrrrrr! I think, you do! With all your skin…🤐
You have now also the most bad chance to make the acquentance with the worse ''ambassador'' that ever had the collectable hobbies! You must run away from me as fast as you can! Only like this, you may have a little chance to escape my evil magic…👹
Last but not least, you'll have to know that the rude person in cause here is… let's see if you guess!!…Oh,yes, again me! Knowing this (secret) piece of information, you'll have the kindest & most pleasant duty for you to manage with rsirian1,spookie & what another member(s) you wish that Numista gets rid of me once for all!

I think you should read that as sarcasm. It might not be your kind of humor, but I don’t really see a lot of disrespect in that.

I read through it. I was appalled that a member (a brand new member no less) would be treated the way AndiPasculescu10 treated him. Even after the new member apologized AndiPasculescu10 continued to scold and reprimand him. I suggest everyone read that post and then try to defend AndiPasculescu10 behavior as being due to “English as a second language.”

I agree, for someone who claims English as their second language, they know it well enough to use it in the way he did. Just plain rude, no excuses about it.
Agree. Differing languages and cultures come together here. Everyone needs to be cut some slack.
Members ought to be encouraged to post in their own language if they wish, something we used on other forums I have been on, and add a translation in the forum specific language, English here; French on the French forum, Spanish on the Spanish forum.
The added translation via google translate is an element which if not done, ought to be added by means of moderation.
I participate in a Finnish language forum, posting in English, with a Finnish translation - I have done the same in Polish language forums. For simple points, I wouldn't bother with the English, but the forum has the facility there when needed.

With apologies for the double post, but two topics need two replies.
This is a case for forum moderation, imho. As a semi-retired gaming forum moderator and Admin, I have a few comments to make on this.
- What happens on other forums is nothing to do with this forum, it is not a mitigating factor. Andi’s post [post 3] in the thread in question is totally out of order. - Andi’s refusal to accept an apology [given in post 5] with acidic sarcasm [post 6] is also out of order. - Andi’s continued hostility in the face of continued polite responses from SaeedM97 is also out of order.
1. Andi’s hostile reply should have been deleted by a moderator, with a polite note that it was off topic, and an equally polite PM to Andi.
2. A second infraction, or a repost of the original would be deleted again with a warning to Andi written in his post in place of its content. Moderator would also lock the post to prevent editing.
3. A third infraction would result in a cooling off ban of a day or so, with a PM to Andi to unpack the issue.
4. A fourth infraction would result in a longer ban - with good moderation, it would not come to this.
Additionally, a quick review of Andi’s posts in the past two weeks reveals a high degree of passive agressiveness and unnecessary hostility.
We used to call that spam in our day.
Often issues like this can be defused by good moderation, or any moderation. There should be three full time moderators on numista located so as to cover each language forum 24/7/365.
Although a largely anonymous medium, people should know how to behave on internet forums.
Just be as you would be face to face.
Simple.
Obnoxious behaviour should not be tolerated, and especially not on a forum such as numista. We are her for the advancement of numismatics, remember! And we should be setting a good example.
Instead of anyone being able to open an account and post a "Whats it worth" with a photo of a 1971 UK 2p, Make it so that new members' posts need to be approved by a moderator.
It will stop the need for the self appointed grumpy gatekeeeper whinging on every post in Coin Identifications.
Image if we had this idea years ago, who remembers the overly enthusiastic children that spammed the forum for months or Cass Taylor? I shidder to think off all the knowledgeable peiple thst just went elsewhere instead of sharing their knowledge here.
I am just glad when i was new on these forums and asking people to identify fairly simple coins with grainy bad photos, i was not met with any hostility. It was almost 10 years ago mind you, and i was young and inexperienced. People were always helpful and kind, and alas i am still here..
Another solution would be a compulsory “Say hi” post in which all intending new members had to say hi and what they intended doing here. They would then state if they wish to be proper collectors or merely value seeking.
Sadly ebay and other dodgy websites are to blame for the rise of “bubbles” where and common and worthless junk like 1971 2p pieces from the UK and a 5 cent coin of NZ from 1995 are seen as valuable and rare coins because some clown on Feebay, Gumtree or Craigslist is selling one for $10000 or whatever.
Newbies should also be forced to read a pre written script from us that states clearly, we do not really want value seeking types who merely want us to give them information and answer endless low quality questions. I mean we are not Quora or Rent a Geek.
Languages - well we can't change that, but it looks like to me, most of our traffic here is either Europe, USA and Canada and to a smaller degree Australia and New Zealand. With the exception of Eastern and Southern Europe, most of the people there have a good understanding of English and if they don't, they can either speak French or Spanish, so it would be hard to find someone who can't speak any of those 3 languages. I have found in general, most Scandinavians, Dutch, and Germans speak English well and most Belgian, French, Andorrese etc and Africans can speak French and I assume many Dutch and German people probably know at least some French especially near the borders. The whole Hispanic world speaks Spanish.
All we have left is Africa and Asia and apart from a few Indians (Who generally can speak English - of course some can't) and we very seldom see any posts from that place. I mean how members from the whole continent of Africa, do we have here (Excluding White South Africans).
Andi's English is just fine, so that is hardly an excuse, plus Romanian is a Romance language that is not that far removed from French, it is not a Slavic language (Covering Slavic speakers could be hard, but most Russians and East Europeans who post here seem to speak English or French).
Either way, bring in some vetting of new members and a mroe swift punishing of rude people. The system is too generous, should be.
1. One instance of rudeness (Minor - a 1st warning), Moderate - final warning, Extreme (Including swearing, racism or threats - instant perma ban
2. 2nd instance of rudeness that is Minor - final warning, 3rd instance - perma ban.
Levels of Rudeness
1. Minor - Condescending tone, insulting the coin and general disdain for poster.
2. Moderate - Insulting the member without resorting to obscenity, racism or threats.
3. Extreme - Using racist, homophobic, anti cultural, sexist, obscene or violent language.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

I would put Andi's posts into the Moderate category automatically - borderling Extreme, due to his use of Bolded caps (E shouting) and red angry emojis.
Under my system, he would be gone.
I would probably be gone too.
We could have the Coin Community Forum system.
1. Complain or insult a member with high status = instant perma ban.

Hahaha!! That was awesome! Thanks for the laugh! 🤣🤣🤣
I'd like to bring attention that they are also exactly like this on the Coinquest forum (whom I used to work for) and they are just as bad there as they are here. If I was still working there I would have definately put an end to it by now.

Fortunately you are not ''working'' there anymore! On that site,my ''bad'' posts/contributions are prised & appreciated! Additionaly,no complaints from anyone…
Kind of glad I don't work for coinquest anymore even if it was years ago. You even laughed at him at one point in another message. If you can't say anything nice to new members don't say anything at all. What might be obvious to you, will definately not be obvious to a newcomer. Stick to Coinquest :)
I was secretary of an organization for several years. I know one thing that is ineffective if you look for compliance with rules:
👉 Do not give people long guidelines to read.
This is ineffective. Period. And I'm sorry to say that very, very, very few new members will sit down and carefully read our current Forum Policy. I don't care that “they should”, they just won't.
There should be a very brief point-form Posting Policy like this:
👉 Include clear pictures of the coin or note you want to identify.
👉 Provide as precise a description as you can, including diameter and, if possible, weight.
👉 For the basic rules of interaction between members and the Terms of Use, see the general Forum Policy.
That's about it. Perhaps the policy could be slightly different according to the forum? E.g., “coin” / “note” / “exonumia” for each respective forum.
But I think that membership in the Numista forums should be a PRIVILEGE, not a RIGHT.
Also why do we get these value seekers anyway, where the main part of Numista is the catalogue
which is easily the best free access coin resource on the net. You don't have to pay and you are not riddled by
pop ups and flashy ads like on many other sites and forums.
Half of the type we are trying to avoid, will not even read those guidelines, especially if its a 13 year old
with a $50 cellphone and the attention span of a mayfly.
And finally, why is Andi still here mocking every single person. Get rid of him already or lock this silly thread, what is the use in talking tough if nothing is done about the problem which is poking its tongue out at us whilst we all sit around mithering and deliberating on what to do about Trolls and Time wasters.

Even though I don't agree with the capitalisation of words, he's not rude or talking down (belittling) to the member. I see how one can chose to read it in a more aggressive and rude way (by really stressing the capitalised words – but to be it seems more like he is marking the key words so there won't be any misunderstandings), but he's not wrong in his comment, but he also apologises for the being the carrier of bad news. Why chose to read it in a negative way?
This thread isn’t locked? Please tell me that this sixty-four-year-old child is in a time out, at least.
A few points for you to consider AndiPasculescu10.
Regarding capitalized and bold lettering in most of your sentences as signifying emphasis. “Sorry, but you & those who think like you do, are fundamenticaly wrong”. As you can see, I have put your own words within quotations and italicized them for emphasis. Also note, a period is a perfectly acceptable way to end most sentences. Almost every sentence you type ends with at least one exclamation point. My interpretation, YOU ARE YELLING!!!
“I join a late phylosopher who said that a society, people may evolve & improuve by its/their own, only by the permanent ‘’fight'' between GOOD & EVIL!”. You may live a long life but, it is going to be a miserable one in my opinion. Perhaps you can try researching some other philosophers whom don’t hold this dichotomy so dear. Bonus for many Numista members as you will spend less time in the forums!
Congratulations on your Diploma / Degree. Mine ended up being bedding for rats and mice in an old barn. I’m so happy it went to good use! It really is only a piece of paper. My education never stopped there.
“Just 2 day after this I saw the identical topic on Numista. That's the right moment when I got angry!” If this hobby is making you ANGRY, over this perceived slight, try another hobby. I’m sorry to tell you this, I won’t miss your inciteful contributions.
In short, I do love stirring the pot.
Cheers
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure, that just ain't so. Mark Twain
I was shocked and surprised to learn Andi got 64 yrs! I really thought, by reading his previous posts, ‘oh another 14 yrs. boy with more enthousiasm than politeness…’ But I want to suggest again, let us here concentrate on coins and accept that everybody is different and try to respect everybodies behaviour and feelings. Sorry my poor english , it is not my first language.
