Look at this:

No mint = Kolkata

Round spot = Noida

Star = Hyderabad

Diamond = Mumbai

shouldn't the order be: Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Noida (sorted alphabetically instead of ????)

Isn't the phenomen with the mint marks like that all over the catalog?

Interesting question.

Look at just the mint section of these two pages:

N#161821

N#161823

The order of the mints is different.

Possibly the order is based on the mint symbol.

Evidence for that sort order: For US coins Philadelphia is listed before Denver when there is no mint letter,  but after when a P is used.

N#55

N#44

(It would have been useful to know the page you took that image from.)

Edit: More on US mints.

From the 10 rupees, since I got one in an exchange and it was the first time I saw the “figures” in the page!

N#24945

The sort is done by the “figures”, but how? Internal presentation of the bits for the figures, certainly, which I don't know of course!

This should be sorted alphabetically by mintmark. Those different dots etc. have some alphabetical value encoded. There is nothing I can do with this.

Hello,

I confirm that the mint “letters” are sorted alphabetically. The order is not based on the name of the mint associated to the letter.

I believe it's an acceptable behaviour, even if it doesn't make much sense in this case, where there are no letters but symbols.

Don't worry, I guessed that, but the year lines are always sorted year, mint and then the year line text. When we changed all the older US coins, Rsirian1 and I had long thinking sessions about getting it sorted correctly!

Take care and go on as strong as now.
