Description

This 1999 BU Set of coins was minted by  The Royal Mint in Llantrisant and issued by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. The set was packaged in a blister type folding coincard and was inserted in a slipcase.

 

The set contains six standard definitive coins, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1 & $2.

 

This was the first New Zealand Mint Set to feature the Ian Rank-Broadley 4th Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.

 

The NCLT $5 coin is celebrating the Morepork Bird, also called the Ruru or Tasmanian Spotted Owl, is a small brown owl found throughout New Zealand and Tasmania. Described by Johann Friedrich Gmelin in 1788, it was for many years considered to be the same species as the Australian boobook of mainland Australia until 1999.
