(en) Alaun was located in Alagon, at the junction of the Jalon and Ebro rivers, about 20 kilometers from Zaragoza. It was the easternmost of the Basque cities and minted coins with inscriptions in the Iberian alphabet. Its inhabitants were already familiar with irrigated agriculture according to one of the Botorrita plaques, dated 15 May 87 BC, which recounts a lawsuit between the inhabitants of Alaun and Salduie (Zaragoza) motivated by the layout of a ditch.
