(en) The Sedetani were an ancient Iberian people who minted their own coins. Their territory extended from central to southern present-day Aragon, bordering with the land of the Ilercavones in the east and the Edetani in the south. Some of their main towns were Salduie (Salduba in Latin), located in present-day Zaragoza, and Cabezo de Alcalá near Azaila. The Sedetani joined with a contingent in Hannibal's army, led by two chieftains named Mandonius and Caeso. The distinctive feature of Sedetan coinage is the use of the three dolphin typology, taken from the Iltirtan coinage. The first Sedetan issues, struck in the first half of the 2nd century BC, depict the Iberian inscription Seteisken, which refers to the Sedetan "gens". Later on, in the second half of the 2nd century BC, several more mints appear and their coinage shows the toponyms of the minting locations and uses the three dolphin typology.
