I normally collect crown size coins , and accidentally bought one of these coins (gold coloured) thinking it was crown size .
However , I have to admit they look a nice series to collect . Bought mine from eBay knock down price (hope it’s not a forgery) every other one 5 times prices .
Does anyone have any info about these coins and any to swap ..I am sure I can’t afford to buy them .
Photographs and dimensions would be good here.
Did a quick search, but nothing with gold colour turned up. Could it be from another country, hence, my first comment.
The design and lettering on your "gold" coin does look a lot thicker than on the original one, so likely either a chinese knock-off or one that was (very) heavily plated. In either case, doesn't look good
Just call me Bram
No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!
There were 12 pictures of the coin on eBay , looking at them closely now again there seem to be two different coins (perhaps the original and the copy) puzzling . On the Numista website there is no mention of gold plated one only cupro nickel .
i only paid a few quid for it ...probably worth it for this dialogue alone on its authenticity
3 rubles 1995 Meeting on the Elbe (American and Soviet soldiers). Metal: copper-Nickel alloy, gold coating on top-this is a patina. Only in proof. They were simply not produced in any other metal. Initially, they came out in plastic seals. At a price in the region (about) of 35 British pounds. They should look like in the photo. Polished field, a matte image. You would have pulled out of the capsule and photographed the herd.
