Displaying your collection

I have been collecting UK coins for a while now but recently branched to the rest of the world. At the same time I joined Numista which made swapping really easy!

My problem is that I'm getting coins faster than I can update my collection. I keep my coins in an album, Let's say I have 1 coin from Argentina and then 1 from Belgium, And then I get another three from Argentina; at the moment I'd have to move every single coin after Argentina (alphabetically) three spaces down. Or I could find out how many coins Argentina has to offer and leave space for coins but then I've got big gaps in my collection and I'd need waaaaay more books.

How do you all store your collections? What's the most efficient way to easily update my coins?

Thank you.
In coin flips within a binder for my type collection, boxes made out of Legos for bulk things I can't spend.
There are so many thread related to "how to manage your collection"
Even Google image may help you.
Just a remaq about the alphabetic sorting that seems not the best choice for me. For exemple the group : Southern Rhodesia, Rhodesia & Nyasaland, Rhodesia, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi looks coherent in term of history and colony influence.

Yes, there are many interesting threads about the storage of collections.
But after reading many of them I still don't know any solution for the specific problem about rearranging, which was posed in the first post of this thread.
The division into groups (for example, African coins, Asian coins, large coins, bronze coins, what have you) is merely a way to postpone the problem, because after a while you'll have to shuffle items within the group.
If you want to arrange your coins in an album (and I mean not in a random order), using holders is not a solution either. Moving a coin which is placed in a holder is easier than moving a bare coin (and you can avoid touching it), but you still have to move it sometimes.
You can use boxes, drawers, chests, bags etc. instead of albums, but then you can't inspect the entire collection (or at least an interesting part of it) at a glance.

By the way, this problem should also arise for stamp collectors who are willing to use stockbooks.

If you plan to gather numerous world coins, you might reserve a page for each country.
At last I did it :D

I agree with this sentiment & it might be worth your while to look over 'Frenchlover's' link provided on "Managing your Collection" as it provides excellent advice. Your #1 concern should be proper storage (dry & in correct PVC-free sleeves). I attended a workshop presented by a museum curator who polled our participants (primarily coin collectors) in how many had damaged coins due to improper storage. It was alarming how many tales of woe were shared. She was not impressed that collectors would pay a certain amount of money on their collection but ignore buying correct storage sleeves/albums, etc.

Personally, I have 2 places I keep my banknotes: first a dry/secure area where I accumulate a certain quantity for scanning. Then stored in PVC-free sleeves in envelopes in similar dry/secure areas. Second in my safe where my personal collection rarely sees the light of day (light can damage banknotes over time). I will leave the odd sleeve empty when I anticipate a new addition to my personal collection.

I do the same.
I have Numista - to update and color the map

I have offline excel - back up just in case i cant connect to internet due to connection

I have a coin mobile app - so i have a copy of my collection stored in my phone

I have boxes 📦 and I am creating my own envelopes/card boards containers to where I keep my coins individually. For special coins, i put them in capsules.

You can upload photos of your coins up onto http://www.omnicoin.com .

That way you can showcase your collection online as a gallery - & it is free.

Here is mine; http://www.omnicoin.com/collection/BCNumismatics , which even has a few surprises that most people are unfamiliar with regarding their types.

Aidan.
