KM variant numbers for mint marks? [solved]

3 posts • viewed 161 times
Hello,

There are a number of coin types from the 1800s that have different KM variant numbers for each mint mark. See some examples below.

Does anyone know if these are indeed variants (i.e., there are visible differences), or if they only differ in the mint mark?

Thanks!

They are NOT variants, they just have different mint marks. Krause and Mischler had different persons giving the KM# for different countries, but those persons obviously never discussed amongst themselves....

France: Always a new sub-number for different marks
Germany: Never any distinction for different marks.
So no rules for mint marks, neither for die marks.
