Quote: "ZacUK" Probably as the previous year of 1967 the Nickel version was introduced ...Thanks Zac.

so the Silver 1968 coin in your link was not meant to be minted anymore.
@BlueHawk I have the 1968 nickel version and mine does not have the edge inscription of GOD * ZIJ * MET * ONS *. Is that why it is ‘rare’??
Also, I have both Silver 1956 and nickel 1968 and they both have the 'fish' symbol on them. Was there a 1 Gulden coin of Juliana's that didn't have it??
The 1968 error was an off metal strike.
The recipe was changed in mid 1967 because the price of silver had skyrocketed.
I've searched - nobody seems to have one.
I did see one on EBAY but the seller was confused - it turned out to be the nickel version.
Starting in 1970 the fish was replaced by a rooster.

Hi Topcat7, you're either mistaking or your 1968 coin is a fake.
Missing edge inscription could be an error, but in combination with a wrong privy mark is too much of a coincidence.
1969 was the fish/rooster transition year. In that year coins with both privy marks were produced, all in large numbers so that one is not more rare than the other, except in case of the 2 ½ gulden, for which the variant with the fish is somewhat harder to get.
Together with the privy mark, the position of the caduceus mint mark changed from tilted with fish to upright with rooster.
Do you have pictures of your coin?

@DSC07625 Thank you for your response. Do you perhaps know why my coin does not have the edge inscription?
Please, put a picture of the coin, whit that edge here, like asked before.
So, maybe, someone can say something substantional about it.

Night-time atm. I will take photos tomorrow and you can assess the coin from them.
There are numerous causes for a missing edge inscription such as, the coin could have missed the step in the minting process, or the coin could have been misfed in the lettering machine.
Also, the inscription could have been weakly struck and has been worn away over the last fifty or so years.
The Presidential Dollar series has some missing edge lettering issues along the way.

A mint-error is possible, offcourse. But I never, ever saw one of this coins worn on such a way the edge-inscription has disappeared, the Nickel, were it is made of, is somehow seriously wear-resistend. Maybe a joker filed/sandpapered it of. That is why I like to see apicture.

Here are some photos (as requested) of my 1968 1 Gulden Juliana.
The weight (on my scales) is 5.96 gm (nickel).
Present are both ‘fish’ and ‘caduceus’ (as per my silver 1956)
With close-up photography I can pick up the edge lettering that is absent to my (old) naked eye.

The lettering is present, but indeed not very sharp or clear. Maybe your loss of 0,04grams of Ni explains it.

It well may. (I thought so, too.)
The 1967 Netherland 1 Gulden is both in .720 silver and nickel.
The 1968 Gulden is only in nickel (KM184a). Please remove it from the KM 184.
As per the Munt Almanak 2012.
Thanks,
Ben
