I am not entirely convinced that the Royal Mint 2018 mintage figures are correct, despite the note that says they were last updated on 14th October 2019. Look at the history: they have produced 5p's for circulation in their hundreds of millions every year since 1994 and then all of a sudden, they struck none at all in 2018 - why?
