For The last few weeks I have flipped all of my world coins so put into a binder. I don't have many world coins a few from most European nations.

I have bin deciding which country I should start to look for.

the list I made was France, germany, Netherlands, island, Greenland, Poland , Serbia, Italy, Switzerland, Greece Monaco, Vatican City. and of course the euro coins.

aside from Europe I deiced to get the main coins from Aruba, Mexico, china, Ecuador , philipens and Iran( pre 1980)

are there some other major nations which people should have in there collection if they are putting a world type set together?
I’m curious what’s your definition of a major country.

i see you have Aruba, Iceland, Greenland, Monaco already. I’m struggling to think from what perspective do any of these qualify as “major” :D

Eitherways, it does not really matter what others think Qualifies as major in terms of the world type collection you want to make unless you plan on selling it.
What nations should be included in a world type set? ALL OF THEM! Duh.
(Actually not really, there's a bunch that only make NCLT, and one or two - Micronesia comes to mind - that don't even make NCLT.)

That aside, it's convenient to focus on countries without an overly long coin-issuing history, to avoid your set getting too open-ended. Countries that I, personally, had been trying to assemble type sets for included Iceland, Romania, Mongolia, and USSR. Aruba should work, though it's a bit of a small set.

That said... by "world type set", do you by any chance mean OFEC, as in "one from each country"? It's hard to tell from what you're describing, and it would explain the inclusion of Monaco, Vatican, Greenland, and Aruba.
I am referring to the nations that are easy to obtain and are interesting like all of the major nations like when you think of super powers or nations that first come to mind

my set I was trying to put together was a coin of each type of a Specific series most generally 1970’s to present

like for example France has gone through inflation and devalued the currency so I though it would be best to use the last series of the 1 centime to 20 franc.

and for Germany the mark from 1949-2001

I was asking a more general question for my own collection theirs are the nations that I have so far and was wondering if there where some other nations that I missed

when you think of cool nations to collect I think of these nations because they look nice and have history like some nations that come to u might not come to my mind.

I have a separate collection for all the commanwealth nations or nations that show the British monarch so this list is not commanwealth nations.

Not Aruba, surely :D

I'd probably recommend starting with the last pre-euro series of countries that now use the euro; it sounds like a good proxy for what you're trying to do, and (most of) those coins are extremely common because large amounts were dumped into coin shops upon demonetization.

...most of them? Your list barely has two dozen, and there's like 150 different modern countries even if you ignore the NCLT-only places. (Granted, most of them aren't very major, but neither are Serbia or Ecuador.)

As far as "look nice and have history" is concerned, I recommend Armenia. Just look at the 10 dram, it's a beauty. (It's even more of a beauty in hand.)
I have tried to keep my list small, I have a few favorites. I like your list so far.

how can you collect Italy, Vatican City, but forget San Marino? some say best country in Europe for coin collectors. check the 1970s-80s Lira coins.

to form a block with Serbia and Greece, I suggest adding Bulgaria, all ex-Ottoman provinces and similarly supplied with LMU compliant coinage from France and Austria up to 1918.

getting back to Latin America - I suggest Uruguay, is a very interesting and beautiful catalog starting 1840s big coppers, art nauveau Paris minted pieces, and modern silvers.

Japan has had many beautiful coins, one of my favorite collections.

Iran is a great subject, would love to see what you have or when you get more.
Afghanistan is also very interesting.

yea I think it would be good to add the Balkan nations and as well as sanmarino

for Iran I currently do not have any any coins from Iran but I want to get some that show the tiger with the tusk which I think is so cool

i have never explored japan but I think it will be a fun addition

thx for the wonderful advice 😀
Agree about Japan! I kind of dropped that one because I had most of the common types and didn't really bother getting the less common types. They're definitely almost all pretty though (and even the less pretty ones tend to be neat).
