How do these work, why are these, when the subcat. is the same as the parent?
For example, in banknotes:
United Kingdom » United Kingdom: 25 banknotes
United Kingdom: 209 banknotes

I am assuming that if there is a banknote in say, England, it would count towards England the U.K.

I have thought the same, I think it's something to do with rulers or issuers as issuers only appear when you select the second UK in an advanced search.
Seems unnecessary duplication to me.
