Today I was trying to find Italian military medals on the catalogue (long story why I was searching for them) and it was impossible. Exonumia is listed as one issuer even though many medals are issued by an official government (one that also makes coins and banknotes). Could medals be listed as a type of coin, like with ‘standard circulation coin’, ‘circulating commemorative coin’, ‘non-circulating coin’, ‘pattern’ and ‘token’ in the advanced search section? I find the current system very confusing and so far I have not found any of the medals I was looking for (I don’t remember any of their names, I tried to filter for Italian medals but nothing came up). Would it be possible to revamp the government and military medals section of the site (and possibly separate them from other forms of exonumia and privately issued medals)? Any help would be appreciated.
In general we do not have any military medals listed on Numista, with a few exceptions.
I believe you talk about military orders and decorations?
Agree, now its difficult to look up medals. If I understood correctly by Xavier the decision was taken to list these seperatly in future.

From time to time I sell some coins on Ebay make sure to follow me @apuking on Ebay.
Tokens and medals should have their own catalogue in the future, similar to coins and banknotes. The workaround using a dummy issuer has been there for too long. We also need to adjust the fields applicable to tokens and medals.
Depends what you are looking for. I find if you google military orders, decorations, and medals then search for a specific country, you get the best results. There used to be an outstanding private site from a French Canadian that had a wealth of information, but I haven’t seen any updates in years. He may have taken it down by now. I also rely heavily on Wikipedia for general reference, and if you look at the resources at the bottom of the page, there are some good links. Good luck! Send me a PM and I might be able to assist, or at least point you in the right direction.
