Seeing as this is my 50th post on here, I feel it is only logical to post a picture of my cat to commemorate the event.

Here she is. Her name is Ethel and she’s three years old. She’s a Scottish fold so that’s why her ears are folded to the side.

I have another cat, Larry (also a Scottish fold), but he did not respond to my requests to photograph him.
What a lovely cat 😍

I love cats. We went to our local shelter for one and came home with three. Mitzy, Misty and Missy. Now only Missy remains and she's sleeping in the sun on top of my Jeep, enjoying what will probably be her final summer. She's painfully thin and almost totally blind.
We took in a 4th, a big, robust young feller who we called Miller. He was found abandoned at the roadside by our local Deputy who knows we love cats. He had enormous paws, more like a small Grizzly than a cat but sadly Coyotes got him before he could fully grow.
I've never trusted anyone who doesn't like animals, or more importantly is disliked by animals. I much prefer the company of my effervescent Shih Tzu, Guinness than any number of human WalMart types.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

Good on ya mate. I Never seen a Scottish fold in person.
I can’t imagine life without cats.

Cats make great Teddy bears & great hot water bottles.

They love being fluffed up - & yes, they love being tickled, including on their back feet.

Of course, they love being massaged as well.

I certainly would not try fluffing up a dog - as I would most likely have my hand bitten by the dog.

Cats love being taken to bed.

Aidan.
Ethel is adorable! She's giving you the "Can I have...." eyes big time.
It works. I give her milk every time she does that.

-She's adorable with those big eyes/expressions (no wonder you want to show her off)

- I hear you "pnightingale"

Animals (& pets) are so innocent (& refreshing) compared to people.

Love the cat! They are such interesting creatures with lots of personality.
Have a nice day and weekend.

My two cats mother and daughter, A rusty garfield found in a housing estate where a small one was found near garbage cans 10 years ago he had 2 months, her kitten after a year now has 9 is called "MIMI".
I don't know where Garfield came from outside and who Dad is - all I see is that he looks like a raccoon.
they are out in the yard and barn all year round, where they responsibly catch mice.

Ahoj Ivan
they’re lovely:love:
So cute, I love the begging face. I see a lot of friendly cats on my rounds and one is a gorgeous Scottish fold who runs up to me and is real affectionate, she has really short but luxurious fur and loves being stroked and purrs her head off. I have to leave eventually and she gives me that sad face as I leave.

Here is my own ball of fur - a large Maine Coon - special post for my 777th

I love all cats and it is a treat to see your photos here.

My pair were found abandoned as kittens by a local animal shelter. There was just the two of them. I had intended to adopt the little girl but, as the shelter sent me more photos, I realised that her and her brother were very close. Not wanting to separate them, I got them both. This was four years ago.

O, so this is now a post your cat thread. Ok then.
This is Mr. BLue. He is a city shelter mutt, Siamese tabby mix, we got him a few weeks ago.
Mr. Black hasn’t minded him much which is a blessing.

She is Anabel (originally her name was Mahiki, after a night club..), we rescued her when me and my wife lived in Abu-Dhabi few years ago. She had a very awful and terrible life before we adopted him, she was stressful, nervous- because of her previous owners-. Of course when we moved back to Hungary, she moved with us, and now we are inseperable :)

Today June 4th is International Hug your cat day.

Mine needs almost no encouragement, a real lap cat and a sweetie and a diva.

Let's see some shots of you guys hugging your cat.

Missy will absolutely NOT be picked up or hugged. It seems pretty clear that she's been mistreated when younger. She's happy to follow me around the house but always at arms length. Strangest part though, she's always willing to swap hugs with our dog, Guinness and will sit still while he slobbers all over her.

Cats and women, I still can't make sense of either one.

That is so bizarre, sorry to hear that - owning a cat but never being too close?

My one was not even picked up, she jumped into my lap and butts her head on to my face, if I pat her, she will start licking me and often she will brush up against me for no reason. To her I am furniture and a feeder. If there are coins in the way, she will headbutt them to let me know "Put those darn things down and pay me some attention NOW!"

She actually took these photos by batting the phone with her paw!

Yet she is a diva too - when she gets her flea booster or a hard groom, or I cut furballs out she will go away and sulk for a while. She also meows way too much.

She was with my hippy brother and his partner (Female) until she was 2½ years old and they had a baby which meant our cat (Purebred Maine Coon) was not getting as much attention - so after she was found sitting on top of the baby!! she was given to us, these two were pretty cruel to her as well, starving her, feeding her the cheapest cat food and offal and when we got her, she was underweight and covered in fleas.

She gained 2kg with us and she has had a lot of scrapes, toms biting her, getting 2 or 3 infections and nearly dying 2 years ago from throat cancer. She is 14 now and a remarkable cat that will probably make 20.

What strikes me is how intelligent and manipulative she is. She knows no sleeping in the room at night, but when I am at work she sneaks in and comes out when I get home. She makes messes and wraps my partner around her fingers, she sees me and she behaves - because she knows the rules.

At the cattery - the guy who runs it takes great photos of all the cats!

She now jumps in our bathtub so she can get water out of the tap and will kick a door open by jumping up on her back paws and pushing it open with her front ones and sleeking through.

I can carry her around and everything except touch her paws, yet my partner can't pick her up (Too clumsy), but lets him touch her paws all he wants!
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

my fav cat
This is the stray male cat that sometimes comes in and sleeps on my bed, like he is doing here ...

My neighbour bought a little cat house and she put it on the low wall in the driveway,
so in the winter just gone he had somewhere dry to sleep. She nicknamed him Garfield
as he looks like the cartoon cat. She feeds him in the driveway, or I do in here - when he
turns up. He is maybe seven years old, and perhaps he visits other neighbours who also look after him.

Zac,
You should fluff him up & tickle him - & tickle him on his feet!

He looks so cute!

Now I also have a cat, around 2 weeks))

Maybe not so fluffy as yours, but very arrogant...

I bought these two, and a 1 Rand, at a church market in Stellenberg, Cape Town. They are really great, actually. They are based on photos of real coins, with some highlights added, and then printed onto the fabric. You can actually see specs of corrosion on the bronze 1 Cent. I don't think they will let them into the Exonumia catalogue, though. :-)

I adopted a former stray from the Toronto humane society just a week ago. As a first time pet owner, I was expecting a bumpy first couple weeks, but Billi Pancakes Habibi aka BiBi has been really coming along well. He adapted to the new environment in under 24hrs and now he acts like he owns the place. He’s 2 yrs old and has FIV, so his street thug days are over and he’ll have to settle for being a pampered indoor cat

He looks very pleased, I doubt he would be missing the "street cat" life at all. I am sorry to hear he has FIV though.

Have any of you people had cat food supply problems in your country - here in New Zealand we have a real cat food shortage as most of ours is imported from the USA or Australia.

The Ragdolls are amazing.. we adopted a pure white old gentleman of a cat (they said he was 8 yrs, he had no teeth, who knows!) from the humane society.. He gave us 9 years until we had to let him go a couple of months ago. He's kind of ruined us for other breeds.. z)

What are the chances a fellow Etobicoke Coin Club member and I would adopt about the same time?

Although to be fair, I believe I may have been adopted. My outdoor, midnight cigarette was interrupted by a feral cat who, when coaxed, decided that a warm apartment was better than the alternative. A couple of days of warmth and food....couple of days gone. He's a fixture now. All his battle scars are healing nicely but I can't do anything for the missing bits of his ears (frostbite). I have no idea about his missing tail!(?)

Here are my two Ragdolls again … Sitting at the front door wondering how they can get their teeth into this pesky Magpie that annoys the crap out of them by strutting around only a metre in front of them haha.

At least it is only a Magpie, we have had a big Kangaroo come up to the door and the Cats weren't too keen on taking him on.

I completely forgot about this thread. My cat Tequila got very sick through late 2020 and into 2021. She had hyperthyroidism and polyps in her throat along with cancer.

Finally on 10 December we decided to have her put to sleep after months of convincing ourselves she would pull through. My vet got angry at me and told me I was silly to keep her alive when she was so geriatric and feeble (You can see by the photos, how close I was to her - that vet was lucky not to be bitch slapped into oblivion!) It did not help my partner also got extremely sick with heart problems, arthritis and diuresis or liquid build up in the lower body (He is currently in and out of a rest home, comes home most weekends).

Finally we had her put to sleep on December 10th and it was so hard. But I knew it was the right choice. We had her remains brought home and placed in a kauri wood casket.

In July I got the plaque made and now the memorial sits peacefully in the living room on top of a bookshelf at chest level, I pass it all the time. As you can see, there are some photos, her cat book I kept, her favourite rattle, the bombazine ribbon and her collar plate. Also added was some old incense I burn every now and then and two old Garfield figurines which are her “Guardians”.

The quest to find another cat has not been easy. Everytime something promising comes along, it disappears. I feel the right cat will come along one day and I will know. I need to be patient.

They are incredibly cute - do they talk to the magpie, like make chirruping sounds and sped up high pitched meows towards birds? Its common amongst Maine Coons, Ragdolls and Norwegian forest cats.

One of my cats relaxes in a similar position to your brown cat but sometimes she can lay with her hind legs facing one way and the upper body facing 180 degrees the opposite way.😀

Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.

I had forgotten about this thread, anyway in August 2023 I finally got another cat - especially now as my partner had also passed away. I could no longer afford a fancey breed like a Maine Coone, so decided to rescue a moggy from the SPCA and came home with this cutie.

At the SPCA, they called her Tabitha and I did not like the name (Too generic) so went for a more colourful sounding Tallulah (Mix of African American urban name and Tallulah Bankhead a golden age Hollywood actress) - or Lula for short, some of my friends call her Lulu, it doesn't matter she does not respond to names, just calls and shaking of cat food does.

They said she was 1 - 2 years old, but she was clearly still a kitten and the vet confirmed she was around 8 months old, still had some kitten teeth, yet had already been spayed after an abortion? She was found stray on the streets of South Auckland. She was very cute, playful but also very timid and defensive and had clearly suffered abuse at some gorilla like thug who once owned her.

It took a while for her to trust me, but she loves me and yet she will not sit on my lap or let me pat her for long, she is still timid, but much more playful and loving with me and a few other people (Mostly female and a friend of mine who is good with animals).

As she has grown, she has got more confident and sweet natured. Now at almost 3 years old, she is a large but still very cute and sweet little cat, she loves being around and winks at me a lot, follows me, guards me and gets upset if I go out. She survived my move across the country and has adjusted well. I see many happy years with her.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
Member of the Royal Numismatic Society of New Zealand and the Auckland Numismatic Society

Mine is overly dramatic.  Here she is “dying” because my wife decided to play solitaire for 5 minutes rather than pat her

What? Me Worry

Classic attention seeking behaviour - love it. Did I mention a few times the cat has butted in when I am with my coins, like trying to bite them, sitting on an open album page on top of the coins (Everything has cat hair on it at the moment as she is shedding) and even swatting my hand with her paw when I am holding a coin.

I may be sleeping and wake up to find a cat walking over me like furniture or she head butts me and runs to her bowl! Lula is a very different cat to Tequila, but the rude tude, attention seeking and no love for coins, rings similar with both cats.

I bought Tequila's remains with me (Along with my partner's) and suspect Tequila occasionally appears to Lula and she is around. I feel her presence, despite Tequila being jealous of other cats whilst alive, I have a feeling she is fine with Lula.

This is a ritual, that if I have a book, coin album, food anything on the other seat on the sofa, she will sit by the edge of it, until the item is moved and she can jump up.

I wonder if Golden Garfield, the thread starter is still around and any more photos of their gorgeous furbaby Ethel?

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
Member of the Royal Numismatic Society of New Zealand and the Auckland Numismatic Society

A lot of relatable posts here.

Our attention seeker is Beans (Russian Blue). Another rescue and after 3 years is calming down a little though still runs the dog (Archie) ragged. He never really had a kittenhood so is learning how to play which leaves me bleeding more often than not.

His biggest attention grab is when you are on the phone…he tries to butt it out of your hand. But like most pets wants to be part of what you are doing regardless.

Also helps my wife with her crochet and is very food orientated.

Along with Archie which is also a rescue and came to us just a month before Beans we wouldn't be without them.
