Hello,

Just a point which I would be interested in and maybe also others here on Numista.
Could we have additional statistics such as.

Which picture sources are used the most on numista and how many times are they in the database.
Which reference numbers are used the most on numista and how many times are they in the database.
Which mint is used the most on numista and how many times are they in the database.
Which tags are used the most on numista and how many times are they in the database.
Which coin materials are present the most on numista and how many times are they in the database.

Thanks,

Paul

Today let's look at reference catalogues. Here are the top 10 catalogues which are referenced on the coin pages of Numista:
  1. Standard Catalog of World Coins (KM) - 68675 coins (38.2% of all coins on Numista)
  2. Weltmünzkatalog (Schön) - 10413 coins (5.8%)
  3. Modern World Coins & Current Coins of the World (Y) - 5272 coins (2.9%)
  4. TokenCatalog.com (TC) - 2863 coins (1.6%)
  5. Cotation des jetons touristiques (JTC) - 2681 coins (1.5%)
  6. Coins of England & the United Kingdom (Sp) - 2581 coins (1.4%)
  7. Gold Coins of the World: From Ancient Times to the Present (Fr) - 2559 coins (1.4%)
  8. Unusual World Coins (X) - 2305 coins (1.3%)
  9. European Crowns since 1800. (Dav EC IV) - 1871 coins (1.0%)
  10. Neuer HMZ-Katalog (HMZ) - 1826 coins (1.0%)
Quote: "Xavier"4. TokenCatalog.com (TC) - 2863 coins (1.6%)

TokenCatalog.com seems to have the title wrong. When you hover over TC# the text is "Catalog number by (TokenCatalog.com)"

I think the title must be changed from "Catalog number" to "TokenCatalog.com" and the author is Richard Greever.
Referee for Spain, Iberia (ancient), Suebi Kingdom and Visigothic Kingdom
The format for reference catalogues is not adapted for websites, I tried to make it looks slightly better:

Hello,

Here are the top 10 mints associated to coins on Numista:
  1. Royal Australian Mint, Canberra, Australia: 1270 coins
  2. Perth Mint, Australia: 1173 coins
  3. Vinna, Austria: 705 coins
  4. Budapest, Hungary: 503 coins
  5. Kremnica / Körmöcbánya / Kremnitz, Slovakia: 451 coins
  6. Paris, France: 427 coins
  7. Mint of Poland, Warsaw, Poland: 415 coins
  8. Rome (ancient), Italy: 285 coins
  9. United States Mint, Philadelphia, United States: 236 coins
  10. Baia Mare / Frauenbach or Groß-Neustadt / Nagybánya, in modern-day Rnia: 226 coins

And since it has been a long time I didn't share statistics, here is a bonus, not in the original requests by apuking: the top 10 ruling authorities on Numista.
  1. Elizabeth II: 11,692 coins
  2. People's Republic of China: 2201 coins
  3. Russian Federation: 1670 coins
  4. French Fifth Republic: 1559 coins
  5. Republic of Palau : 777 coins
  6. Republic of Belarus: 697 coins
  7. Republic of Turkey: 626 coins
  8. Portuguese Third Republic: 620 coins
  9. Republic of San Marino: 611 coins
Thanks - as Elizabeth II is at the top of the second list,
it is surprising that the Royal Mint, United Kingdom is not on the first list?!
Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins
Mints and rulers are a quite new additions to Numista. The lists seem more representative of where most effort has been put into adding the mints or the rulers so far than the overall coin production of each mint or ruler.
Will it be an idea to put at the bottom of the page beside Numista Team and the others, a “Statistics” page with automatic generated graphs with the most interesting facts. If you refresh it once a month will be enough I think.
Always look on the bright side of life!
Great idea Indomini16 . I love statistics.

Mostly because all UK coins are Royal Mint and its just a known fact. I will start the conversation with the UK referee to begin updating all UK coins to include the correct mint. Although if there is a robot that could save a lot of time....

Sounds like a challenge Mike!
We have got 2 Mints churning out NCLT like there is no tommorow. B.

Although I agree that the Royal Mint is starting to do the same thing. :~

Would be a good exercise to add the mint to the UK coins though. Are some of the UK coins done by Pobjoy and others or is that just the Territories and dependancies?

Thankfully only the RM can mint coins for the UK. The other mints do the territories.

Thanks for getting started added mints to British coins. One of the things I love most is knowing where coins were minted.

Back in the day, the Soho mint and Heaton's mint made non precious metal coins. I can't remember if Kings Norton ever minted coins domestically, but I think they did.

There was also a sovereign made by an Indian mint in the last couple of years.

Edit: Here's at least one coins that was minted at Kings Norton: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces578.html.

Just curious where these numbers are now. As well as some of the other information on subject.

Referee for Exonumia from United States

All the UK coins now have the correct mint, so would be interested to see how the stats have changed.

Can be get statistics as such again for Coins, Banknotes and Exonumia sections?

I always find such data and statistics fascinating.

1.

What are the top 10 used picture sources?

2.

What are the top 10 used catalogue references?

3.

What are the top 10 Designers/Engravers/Artist used?

4.

What are the top 10 used mints?

5.

What are the top 10 used Tags?

Cheers,

Paul

I know this topic has been inactive for a while, but I think it would be great if all the statistics discussed here had their own section in Numista (Statistics) where we could view all the general website statistics. It could be located next to Outings and FAQ, in the general topics bar.

Issuers with the most associated coins, sources with the most images in the catalog, rulers, object types, mints, printers, etc... in short, many of us would love for Numista to have a permanent section where we could access all this data.

It could be divided into General Data, Users Data (collections introduced, participation in Numista catalog, posts in the Forum, number of swaps, etc...), and Personal Data (in this case, more interesting statistics could be added to the “My Collection” section).

Perhaps one of the objectives for the 2026 Plan? 😊

Many thanks, Oscar
