It seems that the article
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces2864.html

missed a line in year distribution:

1958 KHN

The existence of the coin is confirmed in SCWC as well as it can be found at on-line auctions such as

https://www.delcampe.net/en_GB/collectables/coins-banknotes/coins-east-africa/british-colony/great-britain-east-africa-50-cents-1958khn-uncommon-low-start-no-reserve-412563560.html

So written

1958 H 2,600,000 Heaton Mint
1960 4,000,000

should be

1958 H 2,600,000 Heaton Mint
1958 KHN
1960 4,000,000

Please ignore the percentages which by mistake are named as 'frequency', of course I know that the term 'frequency' has another meaning.

Why don't you just make a change request or contact the referee?

Because the year list for this coin is closed and the instructions on the coin editing page explicitly say:

"The list of years is complete and has been verified. Most requests to add new year entries are sent for the wrong coin type. If you are sure you own this coin with a date that is not listed here, you can ask to have it added through the forum and include a picture of your coin in your message."

I've also had a situation where I follow these instructions exactly, and get a replies that say "Why don't you tell the referee?" It is actually very frustrating because my initial instinct would also be to contact the referee, but I followed the instructions instead.

So, if what you suggest is the preferred method, then perhaps we should look at updating the instructions.
I usually contact the referee since s-/he can add it directly. But why nit do both? Also, you failed to post a picture if your coin.

Well, he does not necessarily have the coin, but did post a link that shows an image of the coin.

I completely agree with you that it is easier to contact the referee. I'm just making the point that the instructions don't say that. They say you should post here, which is presumably answers your question about why the cyprusalexander didn't contact the referee. It can be demotivating to users when they follow instructions exactly, only to be asked why they didn't do something else. I think, and I'm sure you will agree, that the solution is to change the instructions.
and he believes EBay is the SCWC now?
KHN is mentioned in KM, but only in yearlines, NOT as a code.
The coin from EBay doesn't prove anything, it's only EBay!

When I see a good macro image I might start to believe it, but until then it's only HEARSAY!

"He" has been a member since 2013 and is getting notifications of every message we post. Can't we be nice? I'm actually embarrassed by how we speak to people in the forum these days.
