Numista has given that a rarity index of 97, I have seen a few looking for this token, no idea of value since there has been none sold.
Hi! Welcome on Numista and on the forum!

A quick search in the catalog shows that the very same token is listed no less than three times, and two listings have a rarity index in the 50-ies. So actually it is a quite common token.

And even though tokens often have a high rarity index on Numista, this doesn't mean that they are valuable. It just demonstrates that there is far less interest and traffic in tokens than in coins.
a quick search of that auction site instantly shows the value as < $0.99

Thank you for your help, I believe that you may have confused the extremely common. Garden State Parkway GSP Car Only Fare token with its extremely rare Garden State Parkway GSP Bus Fare only. Would you send me a screen shot of the results you found if you could?
you are right, the bus token is less common, vendors think $5-10.

I have many people I have seen requesting anyone willing to part with one? I have not seen 1 for sale Numista said rarity of 97 and no one offering any anywhere. If you can the results of a real auction or any results of sale keep me in mind. Would you ask any vendors that if they have one for sale or ever had one?

Thank you very much
Numista "rarity" means among Numista members who have it in their collections in this website.
Most Numista members are outside the United States, so a local US token is likely to be rare among the Numista collector population.

Makes a lot of sense and thank you and the reason I think the scarcity is that people that didn't have cars and they were poor had to ride the bus so when they discontinue the use I'm sure they use them up I mean nobody that's poor was going to put them in a drawer you know in a car different story so I'll tell what I believe that the reason of the scarcity at all did they got destroyed because compliance was probably 99.9% returned so anyways just my theory thank you I'll be talking to you again.
Ah! I had overlooked the difference between bus and car fare tokens. Sorry to have mislead you all.

Let my try to make this good by offering a more likely explanation why bus tokens are more rare than car tokens.

Assumption 1: these were tokens that the driver of a car or bus had to put in the toll gate. Of course, many more cars make use of the toll way than buses, so car tokens were more common in general. I don't think that people riding the bus as a passenger used these tokens.
Assumption 2: usually, toll fees for buses are higher than for cars. A car driver could easily forget that there were still some tokens in his dashboard locker. Instead a bus driver, whose tokens were more valuable, would be more keen on them. Perhaps there was even some administration coming along with providing the tokens to bus drivers by their employer. That would imply that there are less bus token leftovers after abandoning the token system.
Sounds reasonable awesome
