Hi,

I noticed since a while now that the unit of measurements (wheight, diameter, thickness) in Numista are not standardised.
Example in one page you can have a diameter of: 19 or 19.0 or 19.00. The 3 values seems the same but aren't the same from a database perspective.

Why don't we forced the value at 2 digits after the coma to make sure we have everywhere 19.00?
That's not a big change but that's will bring a better look on the pages.

It depends on sources or when done by members on the precision of measurements. I see no need to force a global standard.
What we don't need are 8 digits after the decimal indicator (most likely from conversions).
I agree with Idolenz, there is no need to force decimals.
For ancient coins especially, "19 mm" gives some tollerance, whereas "19.00 mm" might be misleading.

What do you mean they are not the same for a database? Doesn't 19 = 19.00 in a database manager?

Hello,
This is actually done on purpose. The number of decimals should reflect the precision of the value (not the precision of the measurement).
There is no purpose to have 2 decimals for ancient coins, whereas 2 or 3 decimals may be needed for modern bullion coins.
I get the point for ancient coins and I also agree for bullions that more precise is the value better it is.
But let say for modern coins we can have table tennis corrections edit to move a value from 34 to 34.00 then to 34 again and so one, and nor 34 or 34.00 are wrong.
