Is there a "fancy" country club now?

I am relatively new at Numista, and saw on earlier forum discussions that there was "300 club". Later, the countries list was reorganized, and the number of "countries" was reduced to 300 total, and over 2000 issuers.

Is there another "fancy" club like that, let's say 260, 280, or something like that today? Just curious.
I guess not:)
There were suggestions of a 240 or 250 countries club, or perhaps something like a 500 issuers club.
250 and 500 look nice! :)

466 Issuers here, looking forward to reach 500!

Then I will be in the 250 one.:)

yes 250 😇
Yes, we can create the "250/500 Club" (Country/Issuer) then you can be a whole member, a half member (only one of two options) and, as I am, not member yet. I'm 245/489, near but far at same time :P

The 300's countries club was fun but it also had frustrating sides, for example when the "French Southern and Antarctic Lands" suddenly lose its "country" status, and how many others do. Also a collector with a bunch of German HRE coins only had one country, but the game more or less survived until the advent of "issuers".
The pleasure / frustration balance of the 300 countries game was unfavorable, several historical members of Numista even left the site because of the downgrading of one of their coins to the token section.
Now the "country" entity only represents a geographical agglomeration with no link to history. For example the "Lorraine" issuer of the HRE is included in France and many other examples in this case.
The concept of country only survives for convenience. Other sites, for example for the collection of world stamps, have abandoned this type of geographical grouping.
What really counts are the" issuers" but obviously there has been an exponential explosion, from the simple city having issued emergency currencies to an whole country, the concept of issuer does not take into account a certain quantity of coins emitted and how could it?
So there's no more competition,
for the number of countries that doesn't represent much anymore
or for the number of issuers that HRE amateurs would win hands down, but that doesn't stop me from giving priority in my swaps or my purchases to any new issuer who would point his nose!

I am an issuer hunter freak, not caring much for notgelder though

I think the issuers are something amazing to collect, so many lands, dinasties, states, autonomous cities, places I didn't even know existed. A delightful focus.

Currently I have 759 issuers, and I have three friends with more than 1.000!

What you say is true, the line between country and issuer is not clear and is very subjective, but we all play under the same rules and criteria: those of Numista (although in many cases we do not agree, they are the ones) and I I don't think of it as a competition, but as a game or fun, this should be seen as a motivation to get new pieces, but in no case should it cause frustration when an issuer or country is lost. But if it has to be negative, then the idea is abandoned and we all continue with our passion: numismatics.

If you really want a fancy club without the uncertainty of "country" changes you will have to make your own list the club agrees upon so the changes are reduced to a minimum.
