When is it OK to Leave Negative Feedback?

Hello everyone!

I have a situation and would like to hear your feedback about it.

I am quite new at Numista, had several successful swaps in the US and in Europe, overall very pleased. The only swap that gives me doubts is my second ever swap. I will put here the history of it, please share your thoughts.

February 19 - Swap created
Feb 20 - Swap confirmed and accepted. We agreed that I mail the coins first since I am new.
Feb 21 - I mailed the coins. (within the US)
Feb 29 - I followed up to see if he received the coins. No answer
Mar 7 - I followed up again. He answered that he received them only that day. I was suspicious as it took him more than 2 weeks to receive them. He also said that he will be mailing the coins on March 9.
Mar 20 - I followed up to see if he sent them, no answer.
Mar 23 - it has been 2 weeks since I received the last message from him. And more than a month since I sent my coins.

The user has 150+ feedbacks. Most of them are positive, but a few are negative. It seems to be a very similar situation to mine.

Should I give him some more time? Is there an "appropriate" time to expect my coins to arrive? Or should I give him negative feedback?

The coins were not that expensive, I will survive. I just want to learn from this situation.

Thank you!
I always try to: be very clear on the negotiation and shipping proceedings and keep my word. If I cannot keep my word for any reason I immediately notify with an apology and a solution. I think that is what is expected of anyone.

Now, delays in communication might occur for all of us, especially in these strange times of pandemic. So, I try to show a lot of grace for everyone in that respect but I myself try to be very proactive and clear in communication.

All that being said, I think your swap partner should have told you on March 9th that something was going on and he would take longer and provide another date.

If he is not giving you a date on when he will be mailing despite already receiving your coins, just be patient and once he has rated you and you have received the coins, provide a non-5-star review with a long, accurate, charitable and objective explanation of what happened (see the only non-5-star review I have given)

I hope this helps!

Take care Iurii!

I understand, and completely understand the situation with the pandemic. But it happened even before it was called a pandemic, and it seems that that guy does not really care about the swap or people he swaps with. I can feel it from his short messages. He even never left me any feedback after confirming that he received the coins.

Well, I guess I will just wait.
He might be waiting for you to post your feedback :)

Hi. The vast majority of members of Numista are honest but also there are some who will abuse the system. If you give this member negative feedback now not only will there be no incentive for that member to send the coins but there is also the possibility that he/she will give you negative feed back as revenge. There could also be genuine reasons for the delay.

As far as I remember I have only given negative feedback once. This was a swap agreed in early May. By the middle of May this member had received my coins and notes. Come November there was still no sign of the coins despite numerous promises. As this member hadn't rated me in the meanwhile I was a tad nervous about giving him/her a negative rating so I contacted a Numista referee and explained the situation. To be honest I don't know if this helped but I gave the swap 0 stars and he/she never rated me.
