Today's Enigma

Have had these two letter openers for many years, and have been trying to ascertain a few things about them.
They are 200mm in total length and both sides are exactly the same.
No idea if they ever came with a scabbard.
Due to the style of the grip, they remind me very much of WWII German ceremonial daggers.

I have tried many times to solve the mystery of the crest, but so far have failed. Anybody out there no anything about them, so I can add details to my database.
Thanking you all in advance

I doubt this depicts anything real, but it should be a black field with a white silver bar

idolenz,
I have found lots of this style information, but nothing that puts the whole crest in one
The eagle is not unique to Germany, so still an enigma

Interestingly the roses look like the ones of the Lancaster and York families. The eagle does not look especially german. Maybe its from a british noble family?

This has the sable a bend argent and a rose...

But no eagle

Both letter openers are the same shape as WWII German Luftwaffe daggers. The other designs are so vague that they are probably fantasies. They make me think of Baden and Lippe-Detmold even though the details are not correct for that.
I don't want anything just made for collectors.
I think I will have to just believe they are fantasy pieces, which is ashame. Had hoped for conclusive evidence of a more concrete outcome
Thanks to all

They're definitely not from the 3rd Reich period. There would be an RZM code stamped into the metal. Very useful things, you can use them to find which factory made it, what year it was made and even it's relative scarcity.

I hope that narrows down the possibilities.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

nightingale,
Nice link. I will use it to look at my German dress daggers

That could keep me busy for a few hours

pnightingale,
have a dagger, which clearly states Paul Weyerberg & Co. Berlin.
According to the list, it is designated as M7/43, but cannot find this number anywhere.
Would they only use one or the other?
This is on my air force dagger. Exactly the same on my naval dagger
