Let me be first to start this thread off again. It's already March 2 in New Zealand and we have another new half crown to join the family!

Went to Budapest (Hungary) 3 days. I manage to get at least 1 of each Forint coin in around XF condition.
May you think they are nothing special but they are additions to my collection and a good memory of my trip at the same time

Like Poland, Czechia and Croatia, these Eastern Bloc countries really shook off the cheap and nasty aluminium and brass coins that dominated their communist era coinage.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Got some nice new medals for my royal collection:
2 Prussian medals, the first one made during ww1 depicting the four leaders of the central powers:
Also I got coronation medals from the coronations of King Leopold III of belgium and Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands:
And at last 2 french tokens, one made during the reign of King Louis XV and the other one possibly made for celebrating the wedding of Prince Napoleon (son of Jerome Bonaparte who was King of Westphalia) and Princess Clotilde of Savoy in 1859:

I don't collect Euros, this is my first and only 2 euro coin, and I don't collect stamps much, but I do collect Princess Grace, so I indulged myself with this. its quite a nice item taken all together.

New additions:
The spring coin show was this past weekend and this is what I got. Gough Island I did not know except that I did not have one in my collection so I bought it. There was four to choose from but I liked the penquins on this one. It is from Tristan de Cuhna. I never thought I would get a coin from there. It is so isolated and who ever goes there. The Biafra coin and Liberia coin were very unique to get also. I like to get new countries and some silver at each show. Met my goal this time.

The Halfcrown fad is wearing down with me and now its about Florins. New Zealand is first in the upgrades and these pieces have started my replenishment.
1945 - about VF, surprisingly cheap and a rare date.
1935 - another good coin and a scarce date, the detail on standard silver coins is flatGeorge and almost no detail of the Kiwi feathers - so these coins are a nice surprise.
Even these cupronickel ones which cost me less than a $1 each are streets ahead of the junk pieces in my collection now.
1945 - about VF, surprisingly cheap and a rare date.

Great coin Bitteswell!
Very historic, its quite hilarious that after those coins, Malta had to wait until 1972 to get a new set of coins of their own.
I got the 2c and 5c in a collection a few days ago - the rest are all coins I had.

Thailand 1/8 Fuang tin coin. Pretty impressive coin that both Thai and Chinese characters are shown.
Fun fact: The 8 in the chinese charcter used "big" numeral writing (i.e. 捌) instead of normal writing (i.e. 八), while other denominations didn't use "big" numeral writing.

After winning a little lot last month I had the feeling to add some 20th century polish history to my collection (These are my first coins from the polish kingdom from 1916-18 and from the 2nd polish republic):
5-20 Fenigow from the Kingdom of Poland created by the German Empire during WW1:

Nice trip through Polish coin history there. I have some of their latest coins and surprised how small they are, yet worth something (I have 4 or 5, 5Zloty coins, which are worth a couple of bucks each).
Meanwhile I am back to type with my new purchases this week.
Another halfcrown in the usual highVF condition (Again interesting era, as these coins were popular for coin smugglers in NZ during the depression)
Another Kiwi florin - this one is also VF, but I feel a better VF than the 35.
It is more good VF and a more common year and cheaper ($25).
GoodVF is my average upgrade condition for coins of this era, UNC/AU cost too much
but its better than the usual G/VG coins that you find mostly for this era.
Meanwhile I am back to type with my new purchases this week.

My newest two additions are definetly part of my personal favorites in my collection:
Silver medal from 1770 celebrating the marriage of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Also featuring a very nice portrait of the aged King Louis XV:
And this awesome Roman coin minted under the rule of Emperor Gallienus. A well deserved Germanicus Maximus reverse and a nice "battle ready" portrayal of the Emperor:

Well, I was adding them to my collection and this one seems to be a bit "rare" (I know I used a word I should not use), is listed here in Numista with a value of 25€ (so several users paid something around that price isnt it?) in VF while I didnt even pay 1€ for it... i guess I got lucky if this is correct

Irish 10 shilling coin - the famous 1966 Easter Rising anniversary with Patrick Pearse (80% silver)
Uncirculated with some light tones
Slightly grubby but gorgeous EF Irish florin from 1928 - 1st year (Most are worn to buggery)

This good EF 1949 NZ Halfcrown
Was with my last lot of 6 - but nearly lost it as the seller put it back up, like most high end stuff he did not sell it and gave it to me for 25% off.
This will be my last new coin for a while, NZ is in lockdown for at least 4 weeks and Trade Me auctions have been suspended except for ESSENTIAL items of which collectors coins are not one.
I can understand many of you are in or will be in the same boat soon.

i have left off buying coins since some time. ebay is a drifting hulk, sellers are panicky... usps is now "iffy", tracking is not working...
i have a deposit on a couple of nice items at my favorite local small dealer, but he is old and immuno-compromized among other co-morbidities, likely I may never see him or my deposit again, i know his heirs - they dont think much of me...
fortunately booze is still available readily, today i have this---
