Can someone please tell me the value of this postage- what it cost the EBAY seller, who charged me 12 pound for a 2d maundy coin (1 only)in large envelope the 3 stamps on the left are all the same but had label stuck on them
Murray
Hi Murray
At the moment the 2 x 1st. are at 72p.
The 3 that you say are the same don't look the same on the picture , the 2 verticals look like 5p's but the other single one looks a different colour, may be a 29p , 39p or even £1.00.
Total about £3.06 ish (counting as £1.00 stamp)
Based on the colour, the far left stamp looks like a £2.25.

If I see correctly, the Order of the Thistle stamps go back to 1987. Probably he has invested in sheets of stamps long ago and, like so many others, he is now using them because the philatelic market has tanked so much.

I think I pay about £3.40 for an international large letter, which is how I send most of my smaller swaps.

Could you see the postage price of 12 when you made your bid?

International large letters are about £13 for tracked and signed. If this is the service he used the stamps will have just been for show.

ive had international deliveries before where stamps are on more or less just for you to maybe keep.
Whenever I post any package in the UK, to any destination, including the UK, no stamps have ever been placed on the envelope. They print off a label, which states country of destination, street and house number and usually post code. Also included would be the registered number, which when sending from the UK, would always end with GB. The weight of the package is also indicated on this label
The only exception to the above rule, as far as I can remember, is if I post within the UK a small letter, where a first of second class stamp is attached.Geoff

Therefore, in my opinion, if this label was not attached to the front of the package, then the postal costs to the sender, was total of the value of the stamps
I'm just a collector of coins, not a slave to it, unless I am in a coin shop.

I guess I'm lucky. These are most of the cut outs from the past several months:

I get a lot more stamps than labels –and some go back to the 1950s.
