Slabbing: A fool's paradise, or an opportunity to prey upon the ignorant?

I know this is going to be somewhat controversial
but what are we, as a community, going to do about
opportunistic fraudsters on eBay?

I use an example of a slabbed Irish 1961 Halfcrown 'mule'
with an asking price of £10,549 Stg + another £75 for 'economy' delivery

The coin was slabbed by NGC (a reputable grader)
- NGC is not at fault here
- The coin is genuine
- The variety is as described

The seller is 100% at fault here
- False advertising (this coin is not rare)
- Price gouging (this coin is worth a small fraction of the stated price)

Have you seen my post about a coin that is currently being offered on eBay for US $5,000,000? ... ... And it's not even slabbed.

But shipping is free. That's a huge plus.

Will keep for me a phrase of the link: you first collect inexpensive coins and make inexpensive mistakes, before graduating to the higher budget items.

the topic shouldnt be 'slabbing' really, should it, this thread is about con-men gulling the gullable.
another curious example - a few months back it was suddenly everywhere that the 1971 2 New Pence was a rare and special issue, and they were actually being sold for thousands of pounds.

I see nothing wrong with slabbing this coin or asking stupid money for it.

In Italy, we have all forum and groups about coins pestered by people asking the value of plain Euro coins (e.g. 1 and 2 Euro coins of Greece) because someone tries to sell them on eBay at 1000 or 2000 Euro (and are circulating coin, that may be graded VF).
Unfortunately, technically it is not even a fraud, at least for Italian law, they are not saying anything wrong or misleading, they just hope for "un pollo".
