It happened previously, but now this is a real problem. It takes 10-20 second to load every page... If I try to load more then 2 pages simultaneously, I often see the error page (especially it was annoying after I fill all the fields to add the coin to catalog which takes some time)
I have this problem both on laptops and phone.
No problems with any other website...

Same issue for me on my computer (using Wi-Fi) - takes about 20 seconds to load the home page! Sometimes even shows an error screen. There was no issue loading the website on my mobile phone (using data; ~3 seconds) though.
I tried to run a traceroute to the Numista website on Windows cmd (I censored some personal info in the first four rows):

Some other info:
- If I load the website using any device connected to my home Wi-Fi, the loading time is still ~20 seconds.
- On February 1, CET 16:00, the website briefly returned to regular functioning, with everything loading as usual.
Since this thread is one month ago, may I also ask if any of you have your issues solved? Thanks.
Best regards,
SRL
Edit February 3, CET 08:34, fully functioning again.
Edit February 3, CET 09:26, back to about ~15 seconds per page.
Hello,
Could you please show me the Network tab in the developer tool of your browser (usually key F12)? It should help understand which resources are slow to load over your WiFi.
Still, it's true that the performance of Numista is not at its best at the moment.
There are about 150-200 timeouts per day. In those cases you would see an error page showing that the website is not available.
Thank you both for sharing the data. It clearly shows that the issue is not related to the network, but to the server which renders the PHP pages. Load times vary significantly, from a few dozens of milliseconds to 1 minute for the very same page. I'll need some time to understand the reason for that.

I have noticed that pages of Australian coins are extremely slow to load since the Rulers field was populated by user Abasurto a few days ago. It can take up to 2 minutes or longer to load a page!
By some method unknown to me he managed to put in nearly 2000 requests to add the Ruler on all Decimal Australian coins, Elizabeth II (1952-date). He did it in some bulk way as they were all uploaded at the same time.
I had to verify each one of them individually and I have now completed that task.
Something drastic has happened to slow the loading of pages down. Before they were loading very quickly.

I agree, catalogue is loading slowly, which is not helpful when I am loading lots of new coins I have bought lately.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

The new server is ordered, about twice as powerful as the current one.
I'll need about 2 weeks to complete the installation and migration, then the website should be fast again.

I think you should send a newsletter to all users about this issue and the coming solution. Most Numista users don't read the Forum, and if they experience the same problems for another 2 weeks, they might stop using the site. And if it happens, it will be very hard to get those users back.
I agree, put it on the welcome page - the more fans that stay the better.
We would like to think people are understanding and patient, but in this age of Trumpism and the internet meme of wanting things yesterday and instant gratification - many people will leave and no doubt many Trumpite Americans.

I would never guess that you host the website on your own server.
Me too - glad you have the message up, I deleted some of my snarky replies.
If it helps, works well at times, manage to add 3 new coins in no time.

Will you use the old server as a backup controller?

If I may ask, how do you fund this? I'd be happy to make a donation!
But for current coins - they all appear as "Demonitized"

The server has become faster, but delays of up to several seconds still occur (judging by the "search" form).
A month ago, everything worked much faster and there were no such delays at all. I think the matter is not only in the hardware, but also in the application logic
Hello,
Numista was migrated to a new server yesterday, which should help tackling the issue. Some adjustments are still needed to make sure Numista uses all the capacity of the server.

Yay! It is a NOTORIOUS change!
Thanks for fixing it, Xavier.
Hello,
Following many adjustments, the website is back to a stable and quick response time (12 errors over the past 24 hours, average response time about 0.6 second, response time for 95th percentile about 2 seconds). So I consider this issue as solved. Please continue to report anything wrong yo may encounter.
