If you could buy any coin

If you could buy any coin, what would it be?
- two parts,

1) That you would buy for yourself for keep / display? -limit to 3 or 4.

2) That you would consider has value regarding trading on Numista (best trading coins)?
Could be several coins but try and limit to best ones you've had success with -may be series.
-what would you invest in, in order to obtain better trades

1798 Liberty Cap Small Eagle USA, any condition / https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces25381.html
1870 20 Pesos Mexico any year really or any condition / https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces15019.html

2) American Eagles and older USA Dollars like 1921 Peace Eagle, Older Mexico Coinage, Philippines US Admin and Panama Silvers

My first choice would be a 5 Guinea coin from the UK. This would mean I have all coin values from 1/4 farthing to 5 Guineas.
Last one I saw for sale had a price of £58,500. So will not be buying one soon or never, which ever is the longest.

I would not but any specific coin, just to add to my swap list. If a fellow collector request I find a price for a certain coin, then I would be willing to do that, then but it if an agreement on overall exchange had been reached.

So, regarding swapping coins I have no clue so I'm only going to answer the first part of the question, in no particular order of preference.

• Morabitino - Sancho I. This is the first ever portuguese gold coin. I absolutely love the design and the importance of it as a numismatic treasure!
  
• Real - António I This one is probably the rarest portuguese coin. There are 3 known specimen. Not only that but it has a great historical significance since it's from the period of the secession crisis in Portugal.
  
• Any visigothic tremissis. Once again, historical significance of my home country!
  

Sorry they have all been coins from Portugal but I mean, it's kind of expected since it's what I collect the most and have more ties to!

I have been collecting Monaco. I have one of everything made between 1800 and 2000, struck for circulation, plus quite a few non-circulating. there are some pieces from the 17th and 18th century that I would like to have, that are quite rare.

I have a huge collections of Peso's but am lacking those as well. Finally got my 1915 Cuba High Relief Star Peso. Took a long time and a lot of trade.

The best coins for trading seem to be circulation coins from small Pacific islands. I've never had any issues finding homes for coins from Cook Islands, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Samoa, Tonga, French Oceania/French Pacific, New Caledonia, New Hebrides/Vanuatu, etc.

I've also never had any issues finding homes for the New Zealand centennial half crown



I'm assuming for your "buy any coin" scenario you're meaning if money was not an object. If money is no object I would love a Gothic crown

​That sure sounds plausible enough! Not that I've ever done any Numista trades.

I'm still on-and-off looking for a New Hebrides coin, but now that they're no longer useful for the 300 country quest, it's mostly a case of "don't want to pay too much for those". I think I have coins from all the other countries on your list (even Tuvalu).

I'm not sure what would my own "if money were no object" coin be; don't think I ever really thought of it that way.
(I vaguely recall having given at least one answer before, but I honestly don't recall what said answer was.)

Not really a trader as our postal system sucks and I am in New Zealand, a country that might as well be on the moon for its distance from anywhere else.

The coin I want the most is like what Neilithic showed, a Waitangi Crown, preferably a proof and joined by its 5 smaller circulating friends including the Threepence.

As for coins I can realistically get and enjoy - definitely New Zealand Half Crowns - particularly pre 1947 silver ones and also Half Crowns in general, South African, British Rhodesian, its just a pretty and large coin.



They are just beautiful and I can't get enough of them.

1) I already have 3 or 4 in MS grade 1945 Canadian Victory Nickel . Chrome plated steel so it has a bluish tinge. In Morse code around the edge it says 'We win when we work willingly'. There is a version of it in just nickel not steel and no chrome. My favorite coin. It is going up in price but still available for under $20 canadian. I also like the New Zealand 1940's half penny design so nothing really expensive for me.

2) $1 Cook Island triangular coin. It went in my first swap.
