Receiving tracked mail in Italy [solved]

Hello guys!

So, I'm looking for information on the process of receiving tracked mail in Italy and I hope someone can help me out. This isn't even for coins or anything, just some important stuff I need from back home that my dad will send me.
If you get tracked mail in Portugal the mailman rings your bell and you have to sign a document to get the package. If you aren't home they leave a notice in your post box and you have to go to the nearest post station to sign and get it. How is it in Italy? What if I'm not home?
I really appreciate any info anyone can give me!
