Why is this US cent so small?

3 posts
Recently, a friend gave me some coins, among which I found a U.S. cent from 1908. But this is about 10 mm. It is gold plated. I have no precision balance so do not know his weight but it is not aluminum. What kind of coin is this? Is it a toy? The engraving looks great and is identical to that date cents. Can this be considered as a token?
Thank you.

Yeah, it is a fantasy coin or token. A number of them are made. If you look on eBaY there are a number of coins that are small and "gold" like a Mexican one.
I supposed so, but my question was because in Central America there were many small silver coins, such as the right, which had legal course for its weight in silver.
Thank you for the information and to clarify my doubt.
