Hi all. I'm new here and in the process of uploading my collection to this site (great by the way) I'm mainly a collector of Victorian coins but I'm diversifying my collection, partly out of boredom but it also gives me something to aim at.
I'm on a hunt for any coins that feature a head with a moustache. Just a moustache, no beard. The British monarchs had a good go at growing a moustache but the beard renders them omitted from my collection.
Post the best examples in this thread and I'll seek them out.
Quote: "neilithicman"Umberto I of Italy has a superb moustache
Luiz I and Carlos I of Portugal both sported soup strainers
Fuad of Egypt had a lip slug
There's a few to start you off...but seriously, that hedge that Umberto has rampant on his face is seriously awe inspiring.
This is exactly the kind of thing I'm after. Thanks.
i have an Umberto coin but I will put the others on my list.
Quote: "BramVB"There is even a tag for "mustache" (should indeed be moustache), but it's far from complete. At least we now have a member who will use this weird tag
CarlosSilver, you now have the task to complete the list of coins with this tag
Quote: "klei92"Got impresed by the tittle of the post . Went through my collection and found some, hope it helps:
- Several Argentina coins with the portait of Jose de San Martin
- You may have several Franz Joseph I without full bear (for instance just 1 example).
- 1000 Reis Brasil Independence Centennial
- Several Dominican Republic with the portait of Duarte
- You will find, for sure, several of Wilhelm II of Germany
- You will find several in Greece (George I, CONSTANTINE KANARIS, GEORGIOS KARAISKAKIS)
- A lot of Victorio Emanuele III
Does the facial hair of Franz Joseph, Emperor of Austria, count as a beard or a moustache or some variation? I would love to hear the members' opinions on this.

I think the facial hair community would call it a moustache with chops.
