Request for help identifying bullet coin purchased in Laos

4 posts
I found the following in the Xam Neua market, close to the Laos/Vietnam border. I normally don't collect bullet coins but nothing else caught my interest and didn't want to leave empty handed.

The coin weighs 20g and has 3 markings on it. They don't look like Thai dynasty markings so I wonder if it's an amulet, fantasy, or crude replica.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Very interesting piece. It's my understanding that there are many bullet coins that may not be documented. One resource you could try is the coin museum in Bangkok. They might be able to at least get you on the right track for identifying what you have.
blue-m - thanks very much for the suggestion! I'm on my way back out of the region but I'll see if they have an email contact that might help me.

The vendor I bought this from had a second bullet coin with slightly different markings. I regret not buying it as well but he wanted the same final price for both coins, and the other was 5g lighter. I was about to take a bus into Vietnam and I wanted to keep some Lao currency on me in case of an emergency.

This forum seems like a great resource, thanks again for your help.
