Obverse: profile of Head to the right with beard. No inscription is apparent.
Reverse: horse standing right. Greek letters Delta-Iota under belly of horse. Delta under head of horse. Lambda-N-T in the exergue. In hand examination indicates there may be other letters above the horse that are difficult to highlight with the digital image but corrosion obscures the letters making Identification virtually impossible.
I do not have a city for the coin...the previous link indicated the kingdom of Macedonia of Philip II with the control mark ΔΙ. I have not as yet found anything that resembles my coin, but I will continue to look. Any ideas?...wild guesses permitted.
Thanks KAISERKILLERfr08, Pella seems right. I prefer SNG DAN Macedonia Pella 259. But, it too is somewhat different from the subject coin. I have ΛΗΣ in the exergue, SNG DAN indicates πελλης (Pella) in the exergue. Call it a 259 variant? Or maybe I have other than a Pella coin...
Thanks Quiquengrogne. On the subject coin the ΠΕΛ above is missing due to age (wear, porosity). On the SNG Cop Macedonia Pella 259 everything comes together including the correct monograms ΑΙ right and ΔΙ below. Thanks again to Quiquengrogne, KAISERKILLERfr08 and kalossaxo. You guys are awesome! Case closed.
