French Jeton?

5 posts
Does anyone have any ideas about this coin or Jeton? It looks a lot like the Sol of 1789 but cut down so that there is no inscription either side.

Sorry I forgot the dimensions - 21mm. 6.86g.

Any thoughts anyone?
Hello,

It could be a sol struck on a 1/2 sol [edit] planchet [edit].

Or it could be a coin used as a game puck (which are very common among French revolutionnary coins) of which the damaged edge has been cut off.

Yes, I think you are right. It looks very much like the examples from google. A Sol cut down. Thank you.
