what would you guys say this coins at- dealer assures me it is fine F despite rim damage
I myself think only VG he wants just over $60.00 US for it Coin is km 680.2 tertio catalog krause $95.00 US for F (fine)
something wrong with belly of dragon also--f solder?????
In my humble opinion I'm with the dealer on this one and see the details on this coin as F if not a little better. Technically speaking, the incidental post mint damage is distracting and should be noted but should not be considered when assessing the actual details of the coin. 1822 and low mintage? If I collected Crowns I would snatch that up in a heartbeat.

Thankyou - have taken your opinion on board--i wonder if this has been a brooch

bye the way- what was mintage did not say on numista
I'm not seeing that at all. Perhaps being overly cautious? You might be able to knock him down a little but I think $60 is a fair and perhaps even a good price if you really want it. Personally, I love that coin.
Sorry, I looked at KM#680.1 for a detailed comparison of details and that mintage was 125,000. Not exactly sure what the difference is between 680.1 vs 680.2. EDIT - Now I see - edge lettering Tertio or Segundo and total mintage for both edge lettering combined was about 125,000.

thanks for your help- did not notice that mintage was for both murray
I would be surprised if this got as high as £25 in a uk auction.

I agree
Keep in mind that the values in Krause are catalog values, not realistic selling/buying prices

So lets review. Right here on Numista there are 3 people who" have" this 1822 coin. 1 has a replica and 1 has one valued at 90 pounds even though it is holed while the third does not place a value on his and has not been active here for 3 1/2 years. All "have" the KM680.1 (Secundo) and NOBODY has the KM#680.2 (Tertio). The much more common 1821 trades (Numista value) at about $50 U.S. in F condition although the rarer 1822 has no trade value listed because there are no transactions to determine a value on the 1822. Ebay has only 1 seller asking about $50 U.S. for one in very poor condition, G - VG at best although it is at least a KM680.2 to compare it to. I think my friend Murray made a good purchase at $60 U.S. for a semi key date and mint Fine coin.
