Definitely someone's collection rather than a cash stash that was hidden and then forgotten, since it includes coins from around the world as well as from antiquity and the Middle Ages.
It's always sad to see this kind of thing. Reminds me of kyoto animation fire. One moment you are happilly doing something. Next moment, you are dead.

To seek for perfection, it is too painful and there is a very high price to pay. To seek for something comfortable is more easy. To seek for nothing is even more easy.

It's sad, but it's great to have these objects to help remember the stories ​of their owners and they will survive longer than primary witnesses' memories, from which people can then discover and learn the tale.
I remember being intrigued by historic rosary beads worn by Christians in times of oppression in a museum, which lead me to research and learn their stories.
