Coin Valuation for 'new penny' from 1971

3 posts
Hi all, I was searching the web and discovered that this coin is potentially valuable. It is a British 'new penny' from 1971 which I believe is the last year they were produces as 'new penny' and not 'one penny'. If anyone has an idea of the value, please let me know. Thank you :)
Hello,

Your penny is worth exactly.... £0.01! Nothing special about it, and 1971 was the first year of the "New Penny", not the last: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces665.html

It seems to be a trend recently that 1971 1 and 2p coins are being sold as supposedly super rare:

Edit: Even "reputable" UK news sources have been jumping on the bandwagon:

(It's not worth anywhere near £50, for the record!)
