East Africa 50 cents 1956... mint mark KHN or KN???

6 posts

The KHN mint marks exist because the master dies were produced with both the KN and H mint marks for use at either mint. Each mint was required to remove the other's mint mark before striking, but this was not always meticulously done. When one or the other mint mark was not fully removed a trace would remain creating the appearance of an H flanked by clear K and N, in the field below the lion.

I understand the link to which you sent me. I have read some articles related to this topic, but I have never seen a case with the KHN mint marks.
The question is whether this is a KHN mint marks or just KN ... What is your opinion about what you see in the photos?

Regards!
I would consider your coin a KHN as both the K and H are distinct.

But there are many variations. I have one where the H and N are strong but the K is present but weak.

OK, thank you very much!
Do you have a photo of your piece to share?
We could also add them in the currency data so that everyone can differentiate.

Regards!
Anyone else who wants to comment on this???
