I just recieved this pair of Zaire notes. The smaller size 2000 zaires is dated 1.10.1991. The larger size 200 nouveau zaires is dated 15.2.1994. The vignettes on the back are the most interesting. They both show basket fishing with the fisherman on poles above the action. Looking at the vignettes closely, I was surprised to notice that the vignette from the larger size 200 was just a modified vignette of the smaller 2000 vignette. Two fishermen and several poles have disappeared from the one to the other.

So does also the 50 New Makuta (0.50 New Zaïres) banknotes form 1993:
But isnt that a different vignette?

What's a vignette? Isn't it the fishing scene you're talking about? B.
The fishermen are not in the exact same place, but hey, they're working you know. No time to stand still. ;)
Vignettes are the engraved scenes on banknotes. Yeah it's a neat vignette. I enjoy fishing on banknotes.
