Just for the crack, I emailed him asking if he had any more as I was looking to buy coins in bulk for investment and wondered if he would be able to do a bulk discount. Unfortunately, he said it's his last one. Then, later on, he was good enough to send me an offer for £2000 that's a whole third off. What a guy.

£3,000 for a 1971 2 New Pence?????
or how about
£1,000 for a 1907 1 Penny????? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123818451227
All it is, is a worn United Kingdom 112-year-old coin.

Well, at least it's a slightly better deal than the 1971 2p at £3000.

You should offer to sell him your similar coins for $2,000 each, then he can flip them for $3,000. I think he'd go for the $1,000 profit.

A "mint error"!!! I wonder if the lister considered that the good ol' age of 112 can probably "erase" a few things
Welcome to the world of feebay dreamers. It is littered with cretins who will list common, fake or misidentified junk at stupid prices. Feebay don't care, the higher prices, the more fees they make.
They have no real ways to deal with fakes and counterfeits or scammers on the site and only care about money raking. This thread from a stamp forum board - Stampboards is nearly 100 pages (5000) posts based around Dreamers on Ebay since 2007. In every case its junk that is wildly overpriced, misidentified or all of it.
This is an Australian site and thus has conservative views - you have been warned! But the type of nonsense shown there is what is happening to coins too. This seller may be completely stupid and naive or just a malicious dreamer and con artist taking advantage of people's stupidity.
Feebay are too rich and large to care, as long as they get their 10%+ fees, they don't care if you get ripped off, its the Viagogo of the collectable world. ever noticed that Chinese fake coin mills would sell on it too.
These sellers wait for the bunnies to scream "Bahhhgaaaannnzzz", this 1819 Gold Sovereign for $20, it must be real and its from China or an Indian seller wants to sell you a real Mohur for $9.80 - it must be real
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Could be the Royal Mint page too, they would package that penny in some nice card and have some essays and nice old photographs of Main Street in 1910 and sell it for £40
