I was wondering do they still use the red pay phone box in the U.K.??? As the pay phone/box are almost gone here in the U.S.A. This is a Guernsey phone box

There are still a few of the old red ones around, mostly in rural villages or in London. In towns it's mostly these plain and boring plastic booths smothered with graffiti.
.
What does this have to do with coins??????? :O  :.  ;(
You put coins in them, also this is a free directory

The top picture, is that Great Moor Street Post Office in Bolton?
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Incidentally, I always found it interesting to read the crest on the red post boxes around town. Mostly they are GR or ER (George or Elizabeth, Rex or Regina) but in many of the older towns it is still possible to find the VR types.

I used to have a collection of photographs of these which I had taken to accompany an article I wrote for a local history magazine.

They still have them here in Dunedin, New Zealand.  They've upgraded them though so they accept credit cards, coins and phone cards.  It's funny because you always see tourists posing for photos in them so they must be a bit of a novelty in other parts of the world.

Complete with rain gutters and downspouts! The NZ booths were well designed
As far as I know all red phone boxes in the UK are listed so they cant be removed without planning permission. Its not just red phone boxes we've held on to we also have at least one black and yellow AA phone box which I think are really cool [http://www.breakdowncover.org/the-aa/aa-call-boxes ] and I believe there are a few original police phone boxes left but just as ornaments in the streets. For those that don't know Dr Who's Tardis is a police phone box.
:)  i like the doctor who t.v. shows  :)

My brother is a big Dr Who nut.  When he was in the UK a few years back he had his photo taken in front of one and put the caption as "the best day of my life"  That wasn't surpassed until his trip to Amsterdam......

So you want this:
Just in case you were wondering why his trip to Amsterdam trumped his phone box photo, he met and had his picture taken with his favourite musician Mike Patton.  Now what were you thinking?  ;)
